CHAPTER 14 - A HEART OF STONE AND A HEART OF GOLD!
Previously in Pokemon Chaos and Order...
Ash was seriously injured after a vicious fight with one Team Rocket's machines, so he was at a hospital. His clothes were destroyed by the attack and so Serena, with the help from a girl called Dawn, bought some new clothes for herself and for Ash.
While recovering, Ash decides to chit-chat with a Pancham that has entered his room, and discovers that to his eyes, Serena is someone different.
After being released from hospital, battling with Nate and receiving his new clothes from Serena, our heroes head over to Castelia City.
.......................................................................
Ash, Serena and Nate have arrived at Castelia City, the biggest city in Unova, and the sight of Ash's third Gym Battle Challenge.
"ALRIGHT!" Ash exclaimed loudly. "CASTELIA GYM LEADER PREPARE YOURSELF! ASH KETCHUM FROM PALLET TOWN'S GOING TO TAKE YOU DOWN!" "PIKA PIKACHU!"
Ash was obviously ahead of the group, who were just a bit off behind him. "Ash...! Wait up...!" Serena called out to him between huffs and puffs of air.
Feeling bad for his honey-haired friend, Ash does stop in his tracks... right as Serena was coming towards him. There is a loud crashing sound as Serena slams into Ash, causing both of them to fall to the ground.
Not in a suggestive way so hold your Horseas!
"HEY! ARE YOU TWO OKAY?" Nate asks, concerned for his two friends. Ash gets up first and wipes the dirt off of his new clothes. "Yeah I'm fine..." he says, adjusting his hat.
Serena however was still on the ground. She had no idea why she was trembling and shaking so much. Sure this was an embarrassing situation, but nobody even saw it. Her face also felt like it was on fire.
"Serena..." Ash's voice snapped her out of her thoughts. "Do you need a hand?" He asks while extending his hand to her. Serena couldn't help but blush at his act of kindness, though luckily for her he didn't notice.
She hesitated, but eventually caved in, grabbing Ash's hand. Ash pulled her up... a little too hard, since she fell towards him again, this time forming what seems like a hug.
Little does the other know, the two were heavily blushing, all the while Nate was quietly chuckling. 'Why do those two have to be so dense?' He jokingly asks himself. After the two parted they were at a lost for words, with Ash scratching the back of his head.
Nate decided that the tension and awkwardness in the air was so thick he could've sliced it with Honedge, so he decided to break the silence by saying. "Ash, do you even know where the Castelia Gym is?"
Ash turned to look Nate dead in the eyes, and while making a confident fist he proudly said... "NO CLUE! OF COURSE I DON'T!"
Pikachu just fell to the ground, not believing its Trainer's stupidity, while the others just looked at him blankly. "Then how are you going to challenge the Gym if you don't even know where it is?!" Nate asked the obvious question. "What can I say?" Ash said, still confident. "I'M FEELING LUCKY!"
Scene change...
"CLOSED?!?!" Ash whined as he read the sign of the Gym door. The sign read: 'Dear challengers and art critics. I won't be available today, I'm exploring inspiration. Don't wait for me. Much apologies and luck, Burgh the Gym Leader.'
Ash began to repeatedly slam his head against the door, despite Pikachu's efforts to stop him. Serena then put her hand on Ash's shoulder to make him face her. "How about we go get some lunch?" She offered. "We'll eat, you'll get a little more training and we'll come back tomorrow!"
As if on cue, Ash's stomach began to grumble. "Well I won't say no to lunch..." he chuckled while rubbing his stomach. Everybody gave a chuckle as they began to walk to the Pokemon Center.
After the three ate their food, Ash stood up and was ready to do some training. He was about to go out of the Pokemon Center's automatic doors but was stopped in his tracks by someone.
It appeared to be a girl around their age with violet eyes and long purple hair that reached her waist. She was wearing a dark-purple skirt and a white jacket with matching boots.

"Hey there!" The girl spoke. "I couldn't help but overhear that you're going to challenge Burgh. Well I wanted to challenge him too so I was wondering if one of you could have a battle with me... I mean, if that doesn't bother you..."
Ash was about to accept the battle but Nate stood up. "No instructions first?" He asked. "Well I guess I don't need any 'cause if I battled any of you I know I'd lose..." he chuckled.
Ash and the girl went over to him. "Well... Nate's half right..." Ash said. "He's right about the fact that we need to introduce ourselves... but he's wrong in thinking that he'll lose the battle!"
Nate looked up at Ash. "You really think I can do this?" He asked. "OF COURSE YOU CAN!" "PIKA PIKA!" Ash and Pikachu replied simultaneously, with Serena giving a nod and a cheerful grin.
Ash turned back to the girl with his eyes closed and extended his arm. "Well, I'm Ash!" He introduced himself. "And this is my partner Pikachu!" He continued while pointing at Pikachu, still with his eyes closed. "Pika Pikachu!" It squeaked happily.
After a few second of nothing happening, Ash opened his eyes and saw that the girl was barely paying attention to him. Instead she seemed to be transfixed on Serena, who was just finishing her meal.
"Uh... hey! You there?" Ash asked while waving his hand in front of the girl's face. The girl then snapped out of whatever trance she was in. "Huh? Oh! Ash huh..." she said, making sure she got the right name.
"Yep!" Ash assured her. "This is Nate, your opponent for today!" He said while pointing at Nate. Ash then turned over to Serena. "The girl you were staring at is called Serena!" Ash jokingly said.
"Huh?" Serena said, completely oblivious to the fact the girl was staring at her. The girl blushed and giggled nervously. Serena then stood up. "So do you have a name or should we call you Nate's opponent?" She jokingly asked.
The girl gave another nervous giggle. "Well... m... my... my name... my name is... Ellie!" The girl, Ellie, stuttered. Serena just nodded and started to join Ash and Nate, who were walking out of the Pokemon Center already.
"Hey Serena!" Ash turned to look at her. "Yeah Ash?" She asked. "I think you should act as referee!" He answered. "I mean, you did an awesome job last time, so this time should be no big deal for you!" Serena blushed, obviously being flattered. "O... k..." was everything that got out of her mouth.
As the two walked out of the Pokemon Center, Ellie seemed to be paralyzed. She noticed Serena blushing, and when she did, her facial expression changed dramatically. She had a look of pure hatred glued to her face, with her eyes dimly glowing red.
Before stepping out of the Pokemon Center himself, Nate noticed that Ellie wasn't coming. He turned around to face her, only to see her gripping the chair Ash was sitting in with so much force, he swore he saw the metal parts crushing a bit.
"Uh... are you okay...?" He shakily asked. His voice seemed to snap of whatever state she was on, her grip on the chair loosening and her eyes losing their glow. She quickly shook her head, like she was trying something off of her face.
"Yeah I'm fine!" She said, scratching the back of her head. Her facial expression also changed back to the joyful one she had. She quickly ran out of the Pokemon Center, leaving Nate to wonder if what he saw was real.
Against his better judgment, he decided to chalk up the feeling of uneasiness he had to something in the food, and preceded to walk to the Battlefield.
Serena got up to referee position. "Okay then!" She spoke. "This is going to be a two-on-two Pokemon Battle! When both Pokemon of either side can no longer continue, the battle will be over! Substitutions and are allowed!"
Before continuing, she turned to look at Ash, who gave her a nod while Pikachu gave her a thumbs up. Serena smiled and nodded back. "Trainers! Bring out your first Pokemon!" She exclaimed.
Ellie was the first one to draw her Pokeball. "ALRIGHT EMOLGA! PROVE THESE HATERS WRONG!" She said, while throwing the Pokeball in the air, releasing her first Pokemon.
It was a white, rodent-like Pokemon resembling a flying squirrel. It has black eyes, a tiny nose, and yellow cheek patches. Its ears, positioned at the top of its head, are rounded in shape and black in coloration.
It sports a vaguely hood-like patterning of black around its head, with a spiky extension of the pattern above its face. It has yellow winglike flaps connected to its three-fingered arms. Its feet are white and fairly small and its black tail is in a jagged shape.
"MOLGA!" It squeaked. "Woah... never seen this Pokemon before..." Nate said, before taking out his Pokedex.
.......................................................................
Emolga, the Sky Squirrel Pokemon.
Emolga live in trees and use their cape-like membrane to glide through the air.
.......................................................................
'So it's a flyer eh...' Nate thought, thinking of the best strategy for this Battle. "I think I know who to go with..." he murmured before drawing his first Pokeball. "TYRUNT! DO YOUR BEST!" He called out, releasing his first Pokemon.
"TY RUUUUUUUUUNT!" It let out its mighty roar. Though she was a bit taken aback by the appearance of a Kalos-native Pokemon in Unova, she didn't show fear and just kept a confident smile on his face.
"ALRIGHT! BATTLE BEGIN!" Serena exclaimed, allowing the battle to begin. "ALRIGHT EMOLGA!" Ellie began the battle. "LET'S SHOW 'EM WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH ELECTRO BALL!" She commanded.
Emolga's body becomes surrounded in yellow electricity and multiple blue sparks come off its body. All the electricity then condenses at Emolga's tail and forms into an yellow-white orb of electricity with sparks of blue electricity coming off it. Emolga then flies a bit higher in the air, does a side flip and hurls the ball of electricity at Tyrunt.
Nate was surprised by Emolga's speed, but just like Ellie, he showed no fear. "QUICK TYRUNT! STOP IT WITH CRUNCH!" He commanded. Tyrunt opened its mouth, to show that its teeth were glowing white, and as soon as the Electro Ball came close to its mouth, Tyrunt bit down, causing a small explosion.
All of those present at the event were shocked (no pun intended) by what just happened. Nate chuckled. "Tyrunt is well equipped to battle against Electric Type Pokemon!" He said. "But this also serves as a great distraction! DRAGON CLAW! LET'S GO!"
One of Tyrunt's hands became surrounded by a light-green energy, causing its claws to grow longer and sharper (while also glowing green). While everyone was still processing what happened with Emolga's Electro Ball, Tyrunt charged at Emolga, jumped high in the air and slashed it with its sharp claws.
"Huh? EMOLGA!" Ellie gasped in concern as Emolga was sent tumbling into the ground. Emolga then shook off some dirt that landed on it, and once again soared high to the sky. "Great job Emolga!" Ellie praised her Pokemon. "NOW USE ACROBATICS!"
Emolga's body began to glow blue, before it zipped through the air a couple of times, gaining speed. Tyrunt and Nate were trying to keep track of Emolga's trajectory but before they knew it, Emolga began to dive right into Tyrunt.
"TYRUNT LET'S DEAL WITH THAT SPEED! USE ROCK TOMB!" Nate quickly commanded. Tyrunt then raised its head and roared, its eyes glowing white. Then, a dozen heavy boulders outlined in white, came out of the ground and surrounded Tyrunt in the shape of a ring.
Tyrunt then hurled the boulders at the incoming Emolga, who simply dodged every last one of them, before slamming its body into Tyrunt, throwing it off its balance a bit. Tyrunt shook its head before refocusing on the battle.
"NOW EMOLGA! USE IRON TAIL!" Ellie commanded. Emolga's tail flashed blue, before transforming into metal. Emolga then began to dive at Tyrunt once again.
"INTERCEPT IT WITH DRAGON TAIL!" Nate commanded. Tyrunt then jumped high in the air while its tail becomes covered by a purple, scale-patterned aura. Tyrunt then slammed its tail onto Emolga's tail, sending both of them flying backwards.
"TYRUNT!" "EMOLGA!" Both Trainers cried out, worried for the well being of their Pokemon. Both Pokemon struggled for a bit, but eventually they both stood up, not willing to give up.
Both Trainers sighed a sigh of relief, before returning their attention to the Battle. "USE VOLT SWITCH!" "USE ROCK TOMB!" Both Trainers commanded in unison. While Tyrunt hurled the boulders again, Emolga opens its mouth, causing a yellow orb of electricity to appear in front of it. Emolga then fires the orb at Tyrunt, causing it to transform into a saw disc-like object.
Both attacks hit their targets, causing both of them to be surrounded by a cloud of smoke and dust. When the dust cleared, Tyrunt was still standing, but Emolga was knocked out on the ground.
"EMOLGA IS UNABLE TO BATTLE!" Serena exclaimed. "TYRUNT WINS!" Ellie then returned Emolga to its Pokeball, saying nothing. But before drawing out her next Pokeball, she spoke to Emolga's Pokeball.
"You did your best my little star..." she whispered. "Now take a long rest..." Ellie then drew out her next Pokeball. "NOW UMBREON! PROVE THESE HATERS WRONG!" She exclaimed, releasing her second and last Pokemon.
It had a sleek black body with four slender legs and crimson eyes. There are two pairs of pointed teeth visible when its mouth is open, one in the upper jaw and one in the lower. It has long pointed ears and a bushy tail, each with a yellow band around them. Its forehead and legs have yellow rings on them.
"UM BREON!" It squealed. Nate's eyes widened. "Wow, I see you've got an Umbreon!" He stated. "It takes a strong bond between Trainer and Pokemon for an Eevee to evolve to that!"
Ellie was flattered by the compliment, but quickly focused back on what matters. "Hey! Maybe your Eevee'll evolve into Umbreon one day, Serena!" Ash commented. 'Eevee can evolve to this?' She thought before pulling out her Pokedex.
.......................................................................
Umbreon, the Moonlight Pokemon, and an evolved form of Eevee.
The rings of Umbreon's body glow faintly when exposed to the moon's aura, and it gains a mysterious power.
.......................................................................
Ellie smirked, seeing that Serena was impressed by her quote unquote 'achievement'. "UMBREON USE DIG!" She commanded. Umbreon then used its front paws to quickly dig a hole on the ground, while diving right into it.
This time, it was a bit harder for Nate to hide his worry. Before he could make his next decision though, Umbreon came out of the ground right under Tyrunt, striking it with its body, but also causing the ground beneath Tyrunt's feet to crumble under its own weight.
"TYRUNT!" Nate cried out. When the dust settled, Tyrunt was inside a small crater, partially buried under dust and rocks, knocked out. "TYRUNT IS UNABLE TO BATTLE!" Serena exclaimed. "UMBREON'S THE WINNER!"
"Tyrunt you battled amazingly, return!" Nate recalled Tyrunt to its Pokeball. 'Okay... so the smartest thing now would be bringing out Lucario...' Nate thought about his next course of action. 'NO! Type effectiveness isn't everything in battles! What matters is your bond! Well in that case...'
Nate drew his second Pokeball. "LET'S DO THIS EEVEE! DO YOUR BEST!" He called out while throwing his Pokeball forward, releasing his Pokemon. "EE VEE!" It squealed, before doing a twirl.
"Eevee vs. Umbreon eh...?" Ellie figured. Nate just smirked and nodded. "Okay then... USE DARK PULSE!" She commanded. Umbreon then fired multiple black orbs of energy from in front of its head at Eevee.
"USE DOUBLE EDGE!" Nate commanded. Eevee nodded, before becoming surrounded by a golden aura and charging at Umbreon with incredible speed, dodging Umbreon's Dark Pulse in the process, just like Emolga.
Eevee then tackled Umbreon in the forehead, causing it to be sent flying back. When Eevee got back to its stance, it was panting hard, as if it has also taken damage.
Ellie growled, but eventually calmed down. "LET'S FINISH THIS UMBREON!" She said. "USE PSYCHIC!" Nate retaliated quickly though. "USE LAST RESORT!" He commanded.
Eevee's body becomes outlined in a golden aura, with orbs of energy being absorbed into its body. The golden aura then forms into a massive star in front of Eevee's body. Umbreon then created a pink, blue and yellow orb in front of its forehead.
Eevee then shot out a massive star at Umbreon, while Umbreon blasted the orb at Eevee, it transforming into a psychic shockwave. There was a massive explosion as both attacks hit their targets.
After the dust cleared, both Pokemon were on the ground, unable to continue. "BOTH EEVEE AND UMBREON ARE BOTH UNABLE TO BATTLE!" Serena exclaimed. "IT'S A TIE!" Both Trainers called their Pokemon back, and congratulated the other on a job well done.
A while later...
Nate and Ellie took their Pokemon to the Pokemon Center to be healed. When they finished the battle, it was nearly dark, so Serena went to the room she rented to change to her pajamas.
Ash though walked up to Nate and Ellie. "THAT WAS AN AWESOME BATTLE YOU GUYS!" "PIKACHU!" He congratulated them, his eyes sparkling. "I WAS AT THE EDGE OF MY SEAT THE WHOLE TIME!"
Nate thanked him, but Ellie said nothing. Ash went to congratulate her again, this time placing his hand on her shoulder. Before he could say a word, she turned to look at him, and gave him a death glare with red eyes.
Before either Ash, Pikachu or Nate could react, Ellie grabbed Ash's wrist, and with nearly inhuman strength and speed, hurled him against a wall. They were all obviously shocked by what happened, but before Ash could ask her 'What gives?' she walked up to him, still with a look of pure hatred in her eyes.
"NOW LISTEN TO ME YOU PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A TRAINER!" She barked at him, her voice filled with pure rage. "I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU ONLY ONE WARNING SO LISTEN UP! SERENA IS MINE! IF I CATCH YOU TALKING TO HER, LOOKING AT HER OR EVEN BREATHING THE SAME AIR AS HER, I WILL ANNIHILATE YOU!"
Ash, Pikachu and Nate were frozen with fear. Ellie got up and started to walk to the door, glancing back one final time. "I gotta go now! Bye guys!" She said, as if nothing happened.
"Wha..." was the only thing that Ash managed to say, before someone helped him up. "Well... she is pretty weird..." said a voice. It wasn't Nate's, and when Ash looked up to face whoever helped him up, he saw this man:
"I'm Burgh, the Castelia City Gym Leader!" He introduced himself. "I heard you were looking for a Gym Battle, am I correct?" Ash just nodded, still shaken up by what just happened. Burgh smiled. "Great! We'll have our match first thing tomorrow!" He said, before walking out of the Pokemon Center.
.......................................................................
Hey guys! Infinityalbi10 here and let me clear somethings up. First, Ellie was created by LeaFxVortex, as part of a message I sent a while back, that states that you can add your own character to my story. You can do that too! Just send me some info on the character and I'll hopefully find a place for him or her. Read the message I sent for all the details.
Second of all, Ellie isn't possessed by some malicious entity! She has split-personality disorder. I just gave her red eyes as an artistic indication to when she shifts personalities. Anyways, I hope to add more characters in the future and here's next chapter's summary:
Ash decided not to tell Serena about Ellie's little 'breakdown', and to keep his mind off of the situation, he goes to challenge Burgh, the Gym Leader of Castelia City.
Burgh is a Bug-Type specialist, and even though his speciality is often ridiculed, he gives Ash a run for his money by giving him a real battle.
Will Ash be able to defeat Burgh and win his third Gym Badge? Will Ellie somehow return? Will this bring our heroes closer together or farther apart?
Find out next time... AS THE JOURNEY CONTINUES!
Thanks for reading! 😊
