Shynee's Legacy
(19)
"There is big trouble inside your family... I will help you find it".
"What a-are you talking about?".
"Big trouble... your family... find it... fix it", the other Pokémon told her, using long pauses as he spoke. Ribbon's eyes widdened, she was beginning to understand. After a minute of silence her desperate frown was replaced with a determined look, "Take me to them."
Hypno chuckled, "Yes".
And so she followed him into the bustling town of Kanto as the two ran away into the search of the problem.
.
.
.
Shynee sat comfortably inside the throne room.
It had been a while ever since she accepted her role as Queen of the Eevelution Forest, since the original heiress, Hana, had declined it in favor of living with Pikachu and Serena instead.
She heard news of her Sylveon cousin once in a while; she was successful as a "commoner", living a completely normal life after all the trouble she had gone through as an Eevee.
The shiny Glaceon heard when she got married, she was even invited to the wedding and gladly set her royal duties aside to visit her cousin and friend.
Shynee sighed, returning from getting lost inside her memories again as soon as someone knocked on the door.
Lifting her head, she answered, "You may come in!". It's probably Rainer..., she thought, referencing her Vaporeon boyfriend, He's probably looking for me again..., she shook her head, annoyed.
But when the figure came in, it wasn't him.
"Huh?".
"Hello...", an old Jolteon stared at her in the eye, "I have come to reclaim what's mine".
-
You may wonder... how did this happen? Sparky will tell, from his point of view.
He was once the ruler of a wide, cheerful and pure nation, settled inside the remarkable Dark Forest, the Pokémon there were usually happy, friendly Eeveelutions of all kinds.
He was raised around with his little sister, Flaria, and his father, who was distant towards them ever since the Eevees' mother died from sickness.
This caused Sparky miss his father's attention and yearn for it, he did everything he could to impress, or satisfy his father but the king never returned the love and barely even spoke to him or his sad, snobby sister.
When he grew up, he decided to train to become a Jolteon, which he did, in commemorance of his mother, who was also an Electric-type Eevelution. He also chose to be as cheery as he could every day, since he didn't want to end up like his father and he wanted to give hope to his friends and people.
Flaria, on the other paw, evolved into a Flareon, got married and laid an egg; to which Sparky was really proud of. Afterwards, his own mate, a shiny Sylveon named Nymphia laid an egg of her own, and so Glacia and Blacky were born.
He was really happy at his son's birth but also very, very nervous and confused in how to raise him.
He definitely didn't want to be like his father, depressed and neglectful, he wanted to be the complete opposite.
He wanted to be Blacky's best friend.
.
.
.
"I remember what my Mama has told me! She said I have an aunt and a grandma who lives here, in Kanto!", Ribbon exclaimed as she ran around the city, directed by Hypno, "That's what your talking about, right, mister?! There must be trouble with my auntie or my nana!", she glanced at him worriedly.
The Hypno only nodded as they turned around a curb.
-
So Sparky raised Blacky like he wished he had been raised: with smiles, laughter, happiness, friendly battles and never, never, frowning.
The little Eevee prince grew up to be a very cheerful boy along his dad, and the two were very close.
So one day, when they were out in the woods to train, it wasn't weird.
It didn't SEEM weird.
Blacky laughed as he trotted to keep up with him, "Thanks for training me, Dad! I really, really want to be an Umbreon!".
"And you WILL! As soon as you're strong enough, and the time arrives," he smiled widely at him.
The Eevee looked up at him with big eyes. "Always remember, Blacky... no matter which Eeveelution you want to be... even if you never want to evolve at all... I'll love you", his father suddenly told him, with a caring gaze.
Blacky blushed with embarrassment at his father's mushiness, "Y-yeah! Of course, Dad, I know that", he turned around with a pout.
"Good".
After a while of walking, they finally found the perfect spot to battle, but Sparky felt suspicious about the place.
He could smell a Pokémon scent he had never before… was it even a Pokémon? His head turned around, and he caught the staring of two humans.
They were pointing something at him and his son.
Weapons.
"Oh, no", he muttered, trying not to let Blacky hear him.
"There they are, that Jolteon and the Eevee", a female voice said behind the bushes, talking to someone else, "All we have to do is leave them defenseless… or just the Jolteon, he looks more priceworthy than that runt Eevee anyway".
"Alright, alright... now shut up, will you? I need concentration…", the other, a male, whispered as he directed his gun towards Sparky's direction.
Sparky knew they were in danger by instinct, "Blacky, hide behind me".
"What…? Why?".
"Blacky, hide".
"No way, we're already--!".
"BLACKY, RUN!", he yelled at the Eevee, something he had never done in his whole life, shocking his son and making him run away quickly as the Pokémon poachers shot him in the neck, to which he collapsed into the ground.
His last thought before closing his eyes was: "I hope Blacky forgives me…".
.
.
.
The Jolteon opened his eyes again.
He was groaning, severely in pain as soon as he came into his senses, "I... I must have fallen asleep... where... where am I?", he grunted, struggling to get up.
He glanced up, it was morning, the sun was shining over him without a care in the world. That's when he realized… he couldn't remember anything of what happened before he woke up again.
Nothing.
He scratched his head with his right paw, and passed it soflty over his collar, examining his skin, to which he found a healing scar on his neck. It still hurt a lot though.
"Ow...".
"Hey! You finally woke up, sir!", Sparky turned around to see a tiny Pichu staring at him, a shiny as he could recognize.
"Huh? Who are you, little one…?", the Jolteon asked the young boy, extremely confused and uncomfortable. "I'm Sanda! Nice to meet you!", he chirped, climbing into his back.
"What am I doing here? How long have I been here?", the Eeveelution questioned, finally noticing his surroundings. "Eh, not that long... I found you incouncious in the forest one night and dragged you here since you make a REALLY nice pillow, sir. Hope you don't mind", the bold shiny laid on his back, relaxed.
"Huh... okay. Thank you... for taking care of me, child".
"It's all good! It... it does get lonely around here…", Sanda sighed, glancing away with evident sadness. "Why? Don't you have a family? You're very young", Sparky asked the boy, to which he shook his head, "No... I... I hatched alone, here in the forest. I've always taken care of myself, because I've never met my parents."
"Oh, I'm sorry…", he apologized, turning his gaze around himself, for some reason, there was an ache in his heart, too, at the words, though he didn't know why.
Afterwards, Sanda and Jolteon came to know each other well, specially since neither of them had a family (Jolteon couldn't remember having one…) they kind of became one. Sparky taking care of him as he grew up, and together they even travelled through a few regions, settling between a nice praire and Lumiose city to live contently.
But even if his life seemed good; he had a child to take care of, which he enjoyed, he had a peaceful place to live and all the time and wisedom in the world... he still felt empty.
Very, very hollow.
Every night, he would look up at the moon, and feel like he was intesely missing out on something. The yellow moon... the pitch black darkness… reminded him of a certain someone he couldn't remember.
.
.
.
"We have arrived, little girl!", Hypno finally stopped running with her following. She was panting as she spoke and sat down, "W-we're here…". "Eeveelution Forest", the yellow, tall Pokémon told the Pichu, "it's been my pleasure to help you…".
"T-thank you. Thank you, very much, mister Hypno", Ribbon rose from the ground and hesitantly gave the other Pokémon a hug.
He smiled at her as usual, and walked away from the embrace, leaving, "It's nothing… Ribbon".
-
"Sanda… I've decided to leave on a small journey for a while".
"What?! Why all of the sudden?!", the shiny exclaimed in shock, not expecting this at all. "I'm going on a journey... to rediscover myself. A year has passed, yet I still don't know why I'm not satisfied with my life…", he chuckled dryly, glancing away.
"Is it beacuse of your amnesia, Sparky?", Sanda asked the elder grabbing his leg, "You know that doesn't matter! The past's the past!", Sanda tried to convince him to stay.
"I NEED to know my past".
"No, you don't! What about, Ribbon?! She's lost and doesn't know if her parents still want her! But she isn't trying to find out, either! Just 'cause they're not looking for her doesn't mean she must be sad, she's happy with us!", the shiny Pichu argumented.
"…This is different, Sanda. Ribbon's still a young, hopeful girl with a future… but ME, this IS my future… I can't die without knowing", the Jolteon told him, stubborn.
He looked back at Sanda when he heard short sobs, and noticed the little one was crying, "Well, what about ME?! Will you just... will you just abandon and forget me, too?!".
"…", Sparky didn't know what to say, but he walked towards Sanda and hugged him tightly, "Sanda... please, haven't I told you… that no matter where I am... even if never come back... I'll love you".
"…N-no... you never h-have. But now I know", the Pichu frowned and sobbed with a pout.
The Jolteon chuckled slighty, "Good".
And so Sparky set out to travel around the world again: from, Kalos, to Kanto. He needed to come back to where it all started.
-
It was there, when he came back to the pathway of Eeveelution Forest, when he was received between the other Eeveelutions gladly.
"So your name's Sparky?", a Vaporeon he had just met asked him. The Jolteon nodded. "Strange... you really remind me of the king".
"…The king?".
"King Sparky... he was also a Jolteon. A really honorable Pokémon, he was taken away by evil trainers... it's been a long time ever since I was reminded of him. It's nice meeting you, Sparky!", the Vaporeon exclaimed with a saddened smile.
"King... king Sparky."
"Huh… yes", Rainer muttered, confused at the Jolteon's shocked expression. "I'm...", a flood of memories came running through his vision, causing him a strong headache, but that didn't stop him from saying it, "I'm… I'm--".
"S-Sparky! Are you okay?!", Rainer came to his aid as the other Pokémon began shaking in pain. "I'm…", he managed to say, a smile written over his features despite his state.
"I'm the king".
