Does anyone else remember the episode A Frenzied Factory Fiasco!, aka the episode where Pikachu almost caught Meowth?

Well, what if Pikachu did end up catching Meowth? Would Pikachu technically be a trainer now, or would Meowth belong to Ash? And going off of that, would Ash & Pikachu be able to team up as trainers in a double battle? This could go so many completely different ways.
