Chase led them through the maze with ease, but the next floor was trouble.

As soon as the PokeChasers reached the top of the stairs, found themselves surrounded by Team Plasma.

"Well, well, well," said the grunt in front of them. "Look what the Purrloin dragged in. Boys, take them out."

Each of the grunts threw out a Pokemon. Chase saw a Liepard, a Swanna, and loads more.

"Okay, so we have two options," Chase told the others. "Stand and fight or fall and lose."

"I vote for the first choice," Sierra said. "Flare, spin and use Flamethrower!"

"Wott, do the same with Hydro Pump!"

Flare and Wott spun around, blasting the Plasma Pokemon with water and fire. At least half went down.

"Now, Wott, use Aqua Jet and hit as many as you can!"

"Flare, do the same with Flame Charge!"

The two Pokemon enveloped themselves in fire and water, but this time, Flare's coating of flames turned blue. After she carried out the attack, she winced like she was hit by recoil.

"What was that?" Sierra asked as the grunts retreated.

"Flare Blitz," Chase responded. "One of the most powerful moves a Pokemon can learn."

"Well, let's go try it out!" Sierra said. "I bet the leader of Team Plasma is upstairs."

"Let's go!"

They made it up to the top floor undetected, but as soon as the got to the top of the stairs, They found four Plasmas, one with his back turned. Sierra's face turned white.

"Adam?"

"Did you miss me babe?" Adam said with a sinister sneer on his face.

"Why are you here?" Chase asked Plasma.

"Why, it should be obvious," said the man to Adam's right. "We're here to liberate all Pokemon once and for all."

"And what does that have to do with the two Pokemon outside?"
Chase asked.

"Once people see what angry Pokemon can do," Adam told him. "They'll be scared out of their minds, and want to get as far away from Pokemon as possible. They'll let all of their Pokemon go and run for the hills.Then our ultimate goal will be achiev-"

"Can it Adam!" Chris shouted from behind Chase and Sierra. "You lied to Sierra and tricked us all."

"Yes, almost all of you," Adam said with a sinister look on his face. "I haven't been the only one keeping secrets around here."

Chris's face fell.

"You knew about this all along," Chase said, a dangerous edge in his voice. "And you didn't tell us!"

"I'm sorry!" Chris shouted. "But I'm going to fix everything."

She stepped in front of Chase and Sierra. "I challenge you, Adam, to a bat-"

She never finished the challenge. As she spoke, the right wall exploded and one of the huge Pokemon from outside flew through the room, smashed into Chris, and crashed through the left wall, carrying her limp body with it.

"Chris!" Sierra cried in anguish. Then her face clouded over. "You will pay for that," she told Adam and the others. "You're the only reason she was up here."

"Sierra, careful," Chase told her, his voice firm but fragile.

"Wise words, Chase," the man with his back turned said. When he turned around, Chase gasped.
"Drago Metora?"

"Chase," Drago said maliciously. "Nice to see you again."

"You were working for Team Plasma all along," Chase said.

"No, I'm not working for them," Drago told him. "I'm their boss."

"You know, when you gave me that advice so many years ago," Chase said. "Something about that rubbed me the wrong way. Now I know what it is." Chase stepped forward.

"You didn't show anyone mercy," Chase shouted. "You just kept going until the Pokemon dropped." Chase was outraged. "You didn't care about them. You didn't care about anything! You'd do anything to win! Anything to achieve your goal!"

"Yes, but what is you're true goal?" a voice spoke from the stairs. "You don't want to liberate all Pokemon,"

A man in a brown coat and hat emerged, a blue and black Pokemon by his side. Chase gasped. "Dad?"

"Step away from Drago son," Nathan, Chase's father, told him. "Drago is a madman. He doesn't want to liberate Pokemon."

"He wants to destroy the universe."
