"We need a doctor in here!" Chris screamed. Then the machine let out a long beep.

The two doctors from before, as well as a new one, burst through the door.

"He's flatlining!" the first one said. "Get me an AED stat!"

The second doctor grabbed a machine off the wall and passed it to the first, who took two pads off it and rubbed them together. "Clear!" he shouted and pressed them to Chase's chest. The machine sent an electrical shock through Chase's body to restart his heart. He rubbed them together again, shouted "Clear!", and shocked Chase once more. This time, Chase gasped and the machine started beeping steadily.

"Get him prepped for immediate surgery!" the third doctor said. They rolled Chase's cot out of the room and down the hall.

Before leaving, the third doctor turned to Chris. "Don't worry dear. I'm a specialist. Your friend will be fine." And with that he sprinted off to catch up with the others. As soon as the down closed, Chris collapsed into the nearest chair.

Adam and Sierra had both finished their dessert when Sierra's Xtransceiver rang.

"Hello? Oh, hi Chri-" Upon seeing Chris's face, Sierra asked, "What's wrong? Wait, where's Chase? And why are you at the hosp- Stay where you are. I'm coming right now."

She hung up the Xtransceiver and turned to Adam.

"Sorry. I think something happened to Chase. I got to go."

"Oh, okay. See you later then?"

"Yeah. See you later."

And with that she turned and ran to the hospital.

After Chris had told Sierra all that had happened (omitting the kiss), Sierra was astonished at the tale.

"He was poisoned just to save you?" she asked. Chris gave her a mean look. "Sorry! No offense."

"None taken."

They let the awkward silence hang for a few minutes.

"What's taking so long?" Sierra wondered aloud.

"I don't know. Never been poisoned before." Chris replied jokingly. "So where were you this whole time?"

"Oh, well Adam found me in the cave after we were separated,"

Chris's face turned white.

"What's wrong? You look like you've seen a Haunter."

"Nothing. Just keep talking." Chris's voice seemed a tad shaky.

"Well, he found me in the cave and led me out. Then, he took me to a fancy restaurant and we kis-"

She was interrupted when one of the doctors walked out of the operating room.

"Your friend is... dead."

Sierra and Chris sucked in their breath.

"Just kidding! He's alive and fine. He's making a remarkable recovery."

"I'd slap you if I wasn't so happy," Sierra said, trying to look mad. Her face broke into a smile, however, at the thought of Chase being okay. She and Chris got up and ran into the room.

They gasped when they stepped inside. Chase was sitting up on the bed, with his shirt on, an no machines connected to him whatsoever.

"Hey guys! Er, girls." he said with a smile.

"Wow! You're good as new!" Chris was amazed.

"Yep!" Chase told her. "Those doctors really know how to save a life!"
