As they were crossing the bridge, a wild Ducklett jumped in front of Chris. "Ooh! Go Servine!" Chris's green partner appeared by her side. "Use Leaf Tornado!" A storm of leaves swarmed the blue bird, nearly knocking it out in one move. "Go Pokeball!" The Ducklett was pulled into the orb. It wobbled three times and clicked. "Yay! I got a Ducklett! I'll call her... Um... I can't think of a name."

"Don't worry!" Sierra said. "I couldn't think of Flare's name until I was in the heat of battle. Just wait until way battle Clay."

"You won't have to wait long," Chase called over his shoulder. "We're here." He sprinted away. "And I'm battling first this time!"

After descending into the mine where Clay's battlefield lay, the PokeChasers were ready for battle. Chase was up first.

"This will be a one on one battle," Clay said with his big booming voice. "You can use one Pokemon and there is no time limit. Let's go!"

"Go Wott!"

"Go Krokorok!"

Sandile's evolved form appeared on the battlefield.

"Wott, Aqua Jet!"

Wott surrounded himself in water and shot towards Krokorok with the speed of a bullet. The type advantage and power severely damaged the ground type.

"Now, use Razor Shell!"

Wott grabbed both his scallchops and slashed Krokorok with them. This was enough to knock out the big brute. "Woohoo!" Chase won!

"My turn! Go... Suzi!"

Out came Chris's newly caught Ducklett.

"Go Excadrill!"

"Suzi, use Water Pulse!"

A ball of water formed in Suzi's mouth and hurled it at Excadrill. The attack did double damage because of the type advantage and a critical hit.

"Now, Water Gun!"

A blast of water hit Excadrill directly in the face. He fell backwards, fainted.

"Excadrill is unable to battle. Chris wins!"

Sierra walked up to the challenger's box.

"I guess it's my turn! Go Sandy!"

Sierra's choice was here newly caught Sandile.

"Go Palpitoad!"

Unfortunately, Sandy's opponent was a water-ground type. Fortunately, Intimidate, Sandy's ability, lowered Palpitoad's attack.

"Sandy, use Bite!"

Sandy clamped her jaws down on Palpitoad. It didn't faze him, though.

"Pal, use Muddy Water!"

A huge wave swamped the stadium, dealing loads of damage to Sandy.

"Sandy, Swagger!"

Sandy raised Pal's attack and then made it confused.

"No! Pal, use Bubblebeam!"

Pal turned to his left and launched a Bubblebeam at the wall.

"Sandy, use Bite again!"

Sandy bit Pal again and again.

"Use Aqua Ring!"

Pal tried to make a ring but it faltered and failed.

"Bite! Again!"

This time it was too much for Pal. The poor Palpitoad crumpled.

"Pal is unable to battle. Sierra wins!"

"I am proud to present you all with the Quake Badge." said Clay. "Here you go."

"Hey Clay? I think these belong to you." Chase pulled out the two stones he had found in Team Plasma's hideout in Anvil Town. "Oh no. They'll be happier with you." Clay led all of them out of the gym. "Good luck in the cave! And good luck with the rest of your journey!"
