"What?"

"I said you can only bring one Pokemon each out of Unova."

Chase sighed. "Fine. I guess I'll bring my Samurott."

"Oh, you can't do that either."

"Come on!"

"The Department of Regional Travel states that when traveling to a new region, a trainer cannot bring a Pokemon that has evolved past its second form until he or she has beaten six of the eight gyms in the region the trainer is traveling to."

"Stupid laws," Chase muttered, and he walked away from the desk to give Sierra, his traveling partner, the bad news.

"Seriously? So I can't bring Flare?" she asked him.

"Nope"

"Well, I don't want to leave her in a PC box for that long."

"Yeah," Chase scratched his head. Then he remembered something. "What about the daycare on Route 3? We can leave them there!"

"Oh, yeah! I'd forgotten about that place."

"Let's go then! I don't want to miss our flight!"

"Our flight's not leaving for another hour," Chase told her.

"But we don't know how long it will take us to get there."

"We can just fly there and-"

"Ladies and gentlemen," the intercom crackled. "Flight 107 for Johto is no longer delayed. The flight will leave in twenty minutes."

Chase and Sierra looked at each other and sprinted out the door.

"So what Pokemon you think we'll see first?" Sierra asked Chase.

"Well, I did some research before we left," Chase told her. "We'll land in an airport just outside Cherrygrove City. From their we can take Route 30 to Violet City, which is where the first gym is."

"Wow. This is the most organized I've seen you."

"Yeah, well I try my best."

Sierra rolled her eyes. "Suuuuure."

"Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts." The intercom crackled. "We are beginning our descent."

Chase and Sierra were the first off the plane when it landed. They rushed through the airport, having carried their bags with them on the plane, and soon were walking down Route 30.

"So, this is Johto," Sierra said, stretching. "It doesn't feel much different."

"Wait until you see the Pokemon," Chase told her. "They're pretty different than what we're used to."

"Speaking of Pokemon, let's let ours stretch their legs," Sierra said. "They've been cooped up this whole time."

"Yeah, let's," Chase pulled a Pokeball off his belt and threw it. The ball opened, and in a flash of red, NinjaBlade, Chase's Scyther, appeared.

"Scyther scy!" NinjaBlade said excitedly.

"He seems eager," Sierra told Chase. "Why'd you pick him?"

"Well, according to Professor Juniper, this is NinjaBlade's home," Chase informed her. "I figured he'd like to come back here."

"Okay, my turn," Sierra pulled a Pokeball out of her bag and tossed it into the air. It hit the ground with a thud.

"That's not supposed to happen," Chase pointed out.

"Thanks Captain Obvious," Sierra told him. She walked over and picked up the ball. "Hmm."

She pushed the button on the front of the Pokeball. The ball opened without any flash. "It's empty. Why is it empty?" Sierra's voice took a panicky tone.

She thought back to the daycare. "Crud! We were in such a rush I never used the PC!"

"Well," Chase said. "I guess that's how the cookie crumbles."

"What! I don't have any Pokemon! How are you so calm about this!"

"Because we went the wrong way."

"What?"

Chase pointed ahead of them. There was a sign just ahead of what looked like a little town. The sign read "Welcome to New Bark Town!"

"So not only did I come here with no Pokemon, but on top of that we walked to the wrong city?!?" Sierra was visibly angry now.

"Cool your jets. This is a good thing."

"And how is this a good thing Mr. About To Have A Black Eye?"

"This is where the Johto Pokemon lab is located."

"So?"

"Where the trainers get their first Pokemon..."

A huge smile broke out on Sierra's face. "So I can get a brand new Pokemon!"

She turned and sprinted towards the Pokemon lab.

"Hey, wait up!" Chase called after her.

"Catch me if you can!" Sierra shouted over her shoulder. Then she slammed into something and hit the ground hard.
