Baking with the Siri
" Add three cups of water to the pancakes." Siri's robotic voice directed.Ash shrugged. " Whatever you say."He put the water into the bowl and Misty mixed." Next add one cup of salsa.". Siri said Ash blinked. " Uh... Okay?"Misty blinked. " Salsa?*Ash shrugged. " Siri asked for it."Misty sighed. " Okay okay fine."" Next some mayo."Misty blinked. " MAYO?!"" yes." Siri's annoying robotic voice directed. " It is a vital part of this recipie."Misty shrugged. " Eh. Works for me."" One cup of Mayo."" Two cups of Wasabi."" Some coffee."" But we can't have coffee, Siri." Ash said, blinking. * We're only ten."" I don't care."Misty looked at the phone. " That thing has an attitude."Ash shrugged. " Everything I get has an attitude."Misty blushed slightly. Everything.Ash cleared his throat. " Anyway...."" A pinch of salt."" Vinegar."" Now add some chips."" Chips?!" Misty exclaimed. " We don't have any!"" The alternative is a boyfriend."Misty blushed. " I'm not doing anything to MY Ash, thank you very much."" Then move your lazy bodies and get some chips!*
Misty's hands clenched into fists as she glared at the phone. "Lazy? Lazy?! Listen here, you glorified calculator—"
Ash stepped between Misty and the phone, holding his hands up in a calming gesture. "Okay, okay, let's just get the chips and finish this nightmare pancake recipe before Misty throws Siri out the window."
"Not ruling it out," Misty muttered, crossing her arms.
Fifteen minutes later, they were back from the store, a bag of chips in hand. Ash tossed them onto the counter with a triumphant grin. "There! Chips acquired. Happy now, Siri?"
"Crush them thoroughly before adding," Siri instructed, as though oblivious to the tension.
Misty grabbed a rolling pin, her face grim. "This is therapeutic," she muttered as she mercilessly pounded the chips into crumbs.
Ash leaned over the bowl of questionable batter. "Are we sure this is still supposed to be pancakes? It looks like—"
"Don't finish that sentence," Misty interrupted, dumping the chips in. "Let's just follow the rest of the recipe and get this over with."
Siri's voice interrupted again. "Mix on low for 30 seconds. Then cook on medium heat for precisely 3.14 minutes."
Ash blinked. "Did Siri just throw math at us?"
Misty groaned. "I don't care anymore. Let's cook this monstrosity and see what happens."
A few minutes later, the "pancakes" were on the stove. The batter sizzled and hissed ominously as it spread across the pan. Pikachu and Togepi peeked cautiously from behind the counter, their expressions a mix of curiosity and concern.
"Is it supposed to smell like... spicy pickles?" Ash asked, wrinkling his nose.
Misty sighed. "At this point, I don't even know anymore."
Finally, the pancakes were done—if you could call them that. They were lumpy, greenish-brown, and had a texture that resembled rubber more than food.
"Voilà," Ash said, forcing a smile. "Siri's masterpiece."
Misty poked one with a fork. "It's still moving. Pancakes shouldn't move."
"Shall I call an ambulance?" Siri asked.
Ash groaned, grabbing the phone. "That's it. Siri, you're—"
Before he could finish, Delia Ketchum walked into the kitchen. "What's all the commotion? Oh, are those pancakes?"
Ash froze, his face turning pale. "Uh... yeah! Pancakes! Totally normal, delicious pancakes."
Delia eyed the plate suspiciously, then smiled. "Well, let's give them a try."
Misty grabbed Delia's arm in panic. "Wait, Mrs. Ketchum, maybe you shouldn't—"
But Delia had already taken a bite.
Everyone held their breath as she chewed slowly. Her face was unreadable.
Finally, Delia swallowed and said, "Well... it's certainly unique. You kids have quite the imagination!"
Ash and Misty exchanged a horrified glance.
"Next time," Delia added with a kind smile, "maybe follow a simpler recipe. And don't forget to clean up the kitchen!"
As she left the room, Misty groaned and dropped her head onto the table. "Never again."
Ash sighed, glaring at the phone. "Siri, you've officially ruined breakfast."
Siri's voice replied smugly, "Would you like me to search for a new breakfast idea?"
Ash grabbed the phone, turned it off, and shoved it into a drawer. "No. Never again."
