Chapter 48

Matt and Zane break apart instantly as they watch me with wide eyes while panic floods their faces, well more Zane's than Matt.

"I told you I didn't want to." Zane says angrily glaring at Matt before sliding off the bed and rushing into some room, locking it immediately.

"You need to leave." Matt says with a pained expression as he slides off the bed and rushes towards me.

"Zane's gay?" I ask in a mental daze as Matt pushes me out the room and down the stairs at an unnecessary paste.

"No." He says quickly, too quickly. I stop the front door before he can shut it before going and picking up my food and heading back.

"What's going on?" I ask looking at him sincerely as he has he mental battle on whether to open up or not.

"He is or maybe bi, I don't know, but he's fighting it." He says sighing as he runs his hands through his hair.

"Is she gone?" Zane voice calls from upstairs.

"You have to go." Matt says giving me an apologetic look as he slowly closes the door. "Forget what you saw, please."

I stand there in shock as I still try to piece together exactly what just happened. The loud voices through the door breaker through my foggy mind, I press my ear to the door as I struggle to head what was going on.

"I told you I didn't want to!" A voice booms, that must've been Zane.

"I'm sorry." Matt replies shakily, he sounded like if he was close to tears. "But you k-kissed me back."

"Well it'll never happen again." Zane spits making me wince as I jump away from the door.
I run down the hall and into the elevator desperate to escape the conversation I wrongfully listened into.
I lean against the elevator wall as my mind races at what I just saw. The most shocking being that Zane was gay and was in some sort of denial, strange since he encouraged Matt to spread his wings and fly.

I walk towards my house in a sort of trance only being pulled out of it when my phone rings loudly. I rustle through my pockets before answering it without looking at the screen.

"Yellow." I say feigning enthusiasm.

"Forget what you saw." I instantly stop walking as I instantly recognize the caller to be Zane. His voice wasn't its usual airy, carefree one, the was much deeper and somehow darker.

"Okay." I say after a moment, I hear him let out a breath from the other line as he remains silent for a long time.

"I'm here, if you want to talk." I offer, he continues his silent streak as i wait patiently from my end.

"I don't want to." He snaps making me frown.

"Just don't hurt Matt." I warn sternly while keeping my voice light. " Either you are in or out, do not drag him along. It's plain cruel after everything he's been through this year."

"I won't ev-" He cuts himself before growling angrily and cutting the call. I stare at the phone wondering what the hell was going to happen with this new situation.

"Excuse me." I snap by head up to see a woman smiling at me with a nervous smile.

"Hello.." I say skeptically as she widens her smile slightly.

"Andy right?" She asks sending a nerve wrecking chill down my back. I take a step back immediately as my childhood warnings of dangerous strangers with candy floods my mind.

"No." I say narrowing my eyes at the slightly familiar looking lady.

"I know you are Darling." She says before digging in her back making me step back even further.

"I'm sorry, whoever hired you, tell them I'm sorry." I say putting my hands up in defense. She laughs loudly as she throws her head back before looking forward with amused eyes.

"I like you." She says before running her hand through her hair. "Too bad I have to kill you." She says as her face turns stone cold. I freeze and my heart stops and my blood thins in fear.

"Nah I'm just fucking with you." She says before breaking out into fits of laughter. "I just want you to give this to someone." She says before taking out an envelope. I watch it wearily as she walks towards me steadily.

"Why can't you?"

"He won't talk to me." She says with a soft smile before placing the envelope upside in my hands. "Hug him for me will you." She says her face filling with regret before it disappears quickly.

"Okay..." I say unsurely.

"Here's my number, call me for literally anything. Don't tell him you have it though." She says before shoving a piece of paper in my flannel pocket before turning and walking away.

"Uhhhh." I stand there watching her walk away before she turns suddenly with a bright smile.

"So long Woody." She says smirking. The signature lifted corner of her lip with dark bottomless eyes that screamed mischief makes my eyes widen in realization. I flip the envelope gasping when I see the name on the top

Nathaniel

"You're his mom!" I scream looking up to see her car speeding away. I look at it disappear with a growing heart race before looking down at the envelope. "His mom." I whisper to myself as my mind runs rampant with new information. "His mom!" I say dropping the letter as if it was hot coal when I remember how much he hates the woman. I pick it right back up when I realise that it's not really my decision.

After finally coming to my senses, I run straight to Nate's house. I climb into his room through his window the way he showed me if there was an emergency. He flys straight off his bed and onto the ground as he scrabbled for his baseball bat in the corner before rushing towards me.

"Ahhhh!" I shout jumping out of the way right as he hits the dresser I was in front of it.

"Shit." He mutters at he stares at me with guilty eyes. "I'm so sorry love." He says pulling me into his chest as he squeezes me tightly.

"It's fine." I say ignoring his guilt as my panic from who I just met took president easily.

"Are you okay?" He says pulling away and checking me all over before hugging me again. "I'm sorry."

"I have something to tell you." I say nervously as I push myself away from him making him frown as his eyebrows knit together.

"What's wrong?" He says narrowing his eyes as I pace slightly. Taking a deep breath I place the envelope in his hand before playing with my fingers as I watch him.

"It's for you." I say pointing to his name which he studies intently. "From your mother..."
His eyes meet mine within a second as they grow wide while a million and one emotions run rampant within this darkening orbs, before he settles on anger.

"She was here?" He growls making me gulp nervously.

"Well a little down the road, but yeah." I reply meekly as he watches me with hatred I knew wasn't directed towards me.

"I told her to leave me alone!" He shouts as his eyes burn with rage.

"She wanted me to give you that," I say pointing towards the crisp white paper. "She also wanted me to hug you for her."

"I don't want her hugs." He says placing a hand to stop me as I take a step forward. "I don't want anything to do with her!" He growls as he thrashes around his room clenching onto the think paper tightly. He stops as he places it between his hands ready to rip but doesn't.
He just stares at it with blinding rage with his fingers inching to destroy to the piece of his birth mother, but he did. He grunts angrily as he slams it down on his table before looking my with eyes of confusion.

"You know I've never seen her." He says closing his eyes as he lets out an exhausted breath. I could tell he wanted to know more but was too proud to ask which I couldn't really blame him for being.

"She's different." I say letting a smile slip on my face as I remember the strange woman. "Weird sense of humor." I inform as he watching me intently unconsciously.

"What did she want?" He asks bringing his defenses up quickly.

"Just for you to have that." I say pointing to the crumpled envelope. "You don't look alike." I offer making him frown a little.

"No?"

"Nope. You have the same dark eyes but that's it, I knew she was your mom from her smirk. The exact same after she made a Toy Story joke because of my name." I say making him chuckle slightly as he watches me with great interest.

"Was she alone?" He asks hopefully.

"Yeah."  His enthusiasm deflates as he looks at me sadly. "You going to read it?"

"I don't know." He says studying the paper so hard that I thought it catch flames.

"Whenever you're ready, no one is forcing you." I say supportively before I take the folder and put it in his nightstand draw away from private eyes.

"Thank you." He says as we sit on the edge of the bed before leaning his head on my shoulder. "Life is about to get bumpy."

"Tell me about it." I say referring to his situation along with Zane and Matt's.
