Chapter 4

Ashley Benson as Emily Anderson

Andy's P.O.V

"It's not that bad Andy." Nate says as he sits on his bike with a helmet in his hand for me. The thing screamed death trap, it looked fast, dangerous and unstable. I was afraid to even touch it.

"I don't want to die." I say recapping my entire life.

"You will not die." Nate replies, "do you trust me?"

"No." I deadpan.

"Well your gonna have to learn to, now get on the bike. Or do you not want your book?" He says knowing that my weakness was books. I stare at the helmet thinking,

"I'll even throw in an extra book." He says which automatic sells me and before I know it I'm climbing onto the bike. I place the helmet on a wait.

"You have to hold onto me." He says putting his helmet on. I hold onto his shoulders causing him to laugh like crazy.

"You have to wrap your arms around my waist." He says before pulling my arms around him, my heart rate rises at the sudden closeness but I try not to show it. I lean my head on his back and we're off.

I was right. The bike was fast, too fast. Everything looked like one big blur of colours, I shut my eyes and held onto Nate tighter. I think he liked me clenching to him because he kept going faster.

When we finally arrived to Barnes and Noble, I quickly jumped off the bike and sat on the ground. My body was still in a type of buzz and my eyes were trying to readjust.

"See, not that bad." Nate says with a smirk. I glare at him and try to stomp away, but my legs were like jello and I quickly lose my balance. Before I could hit the ground, an arm snaked it's way around my waist pulling me forward.

My body was tightly pressed against Nate's, his arms were now wrapped around my waist and my hands were on his chest. His heart was beating just as fast as mine, if that was even possible, I brought my gaze up to him and stared into his eyes. His beautiful eyes, they were a greenish blue and I couldn't help but want to stare into them all day.

No! Stop it now!

"Um thanks." I said pushing myself away from his arms.

"No problem." He replied before leading us towards the store.

-------

Whenever I entered a book store my attitude changed, I felt joy and tranquility. The soft music in the background, the smell of freshly printed paper, the aisles and aisles of books, the perfectly organised sections, the leather chairs to sit and read on. It was so beautiful.

"Did you just see Jesus?" Nate says interrupting the moment.

"Shut up." I reply, I wouldn't let him ruin this for me.

As we walked through the store all eyes were on Nate, it was weird for someone like him to be in a book store. The girls were hyperventilating as he walked by, I swear I saw one cry. Nate didn't seem to notice the attention and followed me to the Romance section.

"Your a romantic huh." He said leaning against a shelf as I searched for the book.

"Everyone is a romantic, they just need the right book to bring it out of them." I say simply.

"Whatever you say Budda." He replies, I ignore the comment and continue to look for the book.

When I finally found another copy of the book I 'lost', along with a new book I turned to Nate. He looked bored out of his mind.

"Why don't we get you a book?" I suggest.

"I don't like reading, books are for the weak." He replies simply, I try my best to ignore the comment and focus on the goal.

"What genre do you like?" I ask.

"None."

"Okay, what do you want to be?" I ask, as I make my way to the career section.

"A tattoo artist." He replies with a smile, clearly interested by the topic.

"......that makes sense." I reply looking at his neck, the only place that jacket wasn't covering allowing me to see his tattoos.

"You don't like my ink?" He says aggressively.

"I never said that, plus I haven't got a good look at them all yet." I say trying to calm him down.

"Tell me when you want to and I'll lose the clothes." He says with a smirk. I blush at the thought of him shirtless and quickly turn away in search of a book.

A finally find a book called 'The Mammoth Book of Tattoo Art', it was mostly pictures of famous tattoo artists' work and a few paragraphs here and there. When I handed the book to Nate, he reluctantly took it, but when he started flipping through it his mood instantly changed.

"They have Paul Booth's work! And Corey Miller too!" He exclaims making people look in our direction.

"Really? Amazing, let's go pay for the books." I say leading him to the cashier. After he bought the books he insisted that we get something to eat. I didn't really mind since he was paying.

I mean free food, come on.

We ended up going to a Wendy's and the ride over wasn't as bad, I was more accustom plus Nate slowed down when I told him we may lose the books if he went too fast. We ordered the same thing, a baconator, mine a double his a triple. After we stuffed our faces we washed it down with milkshakes.

We spent at least an hour laughing and talking afterwards.

"See you don't need a book to have a good time." He says with a smile. I looked around, there was no book was not in my hands or on the table, I had forgotten completely. When I was with Nate I didn't even feel the urge to hide in a book. Being with him was fun....free, I didn't want to read with him around.

"You're not bad company."

"Does this mean we're friends?" Nate asks.

"Yep, we're friends." I say with a smile, "now take me home before my parents annihilate me."

----------------

"There's no way this is your house." Nate says as we get off his bike.

"It is, why?" I ask confused.

"Because that's my house." He replied before pointing to a house four houses down.

"Your the Smith's son?" I ask in disbelief.

"My last name is Smith." He says sarcastically.

"But Mr. and Mrs.Smith are so nice and friendly." I reply, "what the hell happened to you?"

"Nothing happened to me, you seriously need a filter."

"Sorry." I say with a laugh, "bye Nate."

"Bye love." He says before I walk into my house and shut the door.

Nobody was home, surprisingly, I quickly rushed to my room and changed into my pj's before jumping on my bed. I needed to sleep, now. But before I could my phone rang causing me to groan.

"What?" I snap picking up the phone.

"Is that anyway to talk to your best friend?" Emily says from the other side.

"What do you want Em?" I say rolling onto my back.

"I just wanted to make sure you got home safely, sue me."

"Sorry, I'm tired." I reply

"What did Nate have you doing to make you so tired?" She asks giggling like the perverted freak she was.

"Nothing. How about you, where did you take David?" I ask trying to avoid her questions.

"The hill." She says simply.

"You took David to the hill, you won't even let me go up there." I say in disbelief.

"I lost a bet and I had to take him to my most sacred place, I would've gone to the dump and left him there but I'd have to deal with him in school." She replies.

"What was the bet?" I ask intrigued, I hear her hold her breath through the phone.

"It's getting late, talk to you tomorrow, okay bye." She says quickly before hanging up.

"Bye." I say dropping my phone, I roll over itching to get some sleep but the doorbell rings.

"Ughhhhhh!" I grunt loudly, forcing myself to leave my bed and head for the door. I open the door to see Nate.

"Cute pj's." He says staring at me, I realise that I'm wearing a vest and some spongebob shorts and quickly hide myself behind the door.

"Why are you here?" I ask trying to avoid the topic of my pajamas.

"Well, your have my book.......and I.... wanted to start reading it." He says avoiding my eyes and scratching his head.

"Wait here." I say before going for the book.

"Here you go." I say handing it to him.

"Thanks, bye again." He says running down my patio steps.

"Hey Nate!" I shout.

"Yeah?"

"Are you weak?" I ask.

"What?"

"How did you become such a weakling?"

"What the hell are you talking about?" He asks.

"It's just that I thought reading was for the weak, so I wanted to know how'd your become so weak." I say with a smirk, some colour appears on his check and I can't help but laugh.

"Bye weakling." I say before shutting the door.
