Simon's cat

I cut some fresh brunches of my neighborhood pine

And tried to make myself a beautiful Christmas tree

Bright, bedazzled with fairy lights, so ready to shine

Beneath which I could hide all my Christmas candies.

Lush green contrasted nicely against the context red,

Its decor complete with golden ribbons and baubles

and elves, lightened up the corner adorned in wreaths

Ready to surprise Santa and his reindeer - Rudolph.

Inside it's cosy, snowflakes patterning glass windows;

And I wondered how much love's labour I have spent

For such a treat as I placed at treetop, the silver bow;

And satisfied, quite tired, I withdrew to bake the cake.

For a moment, all was picturesque, starry and sparkling

'Til the cat got inquisitive, turned my li'l world tumbling!
