along his solitary walk
long stillnesses
heeding Gaia's simple songs
in sunshine and the grass
in pinnacled forest and wandering creek
in tidal rhythms
a waterfall's crashing descent

in the pink city walls
close on the bay
the fisher scows and fishing men
in daisies marching over the dunes

in a bed of lily red waving salutation
the hermit thrush faint in the dusk
in the embers of a lowering sun

the tall man who walks
comes speaking Her songs
