Because you were always there

Hoping for good news
But what came out of their mouths,

I never thought this day would come,
Where you wouldn't be here.

And reality came crashing in.

You were always there for me,
Filling the void I didn't know was there.

Because I miss you so much.
And the memories,

Like that time you came,
To that father-daughter dance,
Even though you don't like to dance,
You still came for me
Because you weren't just my uncle,
You were the closest thing I had
To a loving father.

Or those mornings you visited me,
Right before school,
Just to tease me,
Until I would cry.
I used to hate those days,
But now,
I can't express how much I want just one more

You came to my recitals,
Even though I was never really good.
You were my biggest supporter,
Making me feel like I was the best.
I felt like I was on top of the world,
When I saw your face in the crowd.

Our time together seemed so short.
But I still imagined what it would be like,
Because in the future,
On my wedding day,
I wanted it to be you
To walk me down the isle.

Is that selfish of me?

I just wish you were here.
Because I feel empty inside,
Just like all your nieces and nephews,
We all miss you so much.

But I know you're watching over us all,
Because while your gone,
I can feel your presence,
As if I was wrapped in your arms.

We all loved you,
You were so loved.
We miss you,
Now that your gone.

How can this be true?
The words coming out of their mouths,
That you're gone,
It just doesn't feel real.

Maybe one day
We'll meet each other on the other side,
