The First Hatchling (After the Flood)
(An original)

I, emerging

From the darkness

Of my shell

I take flight

Leaving my ark

In search

Of something I never knew

Water,

As far as a birds eye view

Water,

And dead bodies

Afloat on this liquid wasteland

Restless,

I remain up in the air

"Land here!"

My peers of a different womb coax

They land on the floating bodies

"A place to eat and a place to rest your feet!"

They declared

A raven's paradise!

But I declined

I cant explain

But it didnt mesh

It wasnt for me

I craved something

But what is it?

I never knew anything beside,

The Ark,

and this decayed water wasteland.

Lost

Wondering, that which satisfied my peers

why was it not for me?

They seemed happy

Why not me?

I flew away

Returning to the Ark

Feeling an aching hole

With a filler Ive never known

I spent a life time

With this ache

This craving

This unfulfillment

Back and forth

To the ark

To the wasteland

Back and forth

Back and forth

It was a lifetime

What was I seraching for?

What did my soul,

What did my heart of hearts know

That even I dont?

And then,

I found it!

Out there

Something new out on this water wasteland:

Land!

"A Place to rest my feet!"

Trees fulled with fruits!

"And a place to eat!"

I never knew this place

I spent a lifetime craving this

This, which I'd never known

A dove's true paradise!
