Poetry , a crime?

Are you a poet? 

Do you write poetry? 

An amateur, professional, whoever you are, 

You are gifted with a remarkable ability. 

 Poetry has not come to you to fill your pockets with gold. 

I wouldn't consider you successful with millions copies you've sold. 

Poetry cannot heal the physically sick,

 It's here to inspire the hard hearts like brick. 

They say, "Poets are pathetic," 

"To survive in this world you need to be realistic." 

 True, but I am not here to survive, I am here to live and make mistakes. 

Poetry isn't a process of give and take. 

 Poetry doesn't turn illiterate into literate. 

Poetry is something that liberates, 

Your mind and your soul, 

From the slavery of trolls. 

Those trolls; wealth, fame and society, 

All those are temporary. 

Poetry gives me happiness and contentment, Every time my thoughts are penned. 

 Where in the world people can't speak the truth, 

You have been blessed with a voice, 

Which when beautified with poetry, 

Should make eyes go moist, 

And fill hearts with determination, 

To follow the message that is given. 

 Your friends might be dead in this world, 

But they're alive in their words, 

That's where they happily reside. 

You still want to make friends with those who are living but dead inside? 

 Poetry is not to kill, 

It's here to save, 

Capturing the emotions of ill, 

And tales of the brave. 

 Have you heard of Kabir and Rumi? 

One was a weaver and other was a sufi. 

Kabir wrote poems by bringing together words in different languages. 

You know why they are remembered even after ages? 

Because they didn't aim for temporary things. 

 They weren't trapped in their desires 

They too were nothing.

But they are admired and have managed to inspire. 

 Poetry helps you transform your emotions into words.

 When you've reached liberation then you'll be remembered. 

You'll be taken into consideration. 

You'll at least inspire one person, 

Who'll influence, 

An entire generation. 

 So don't make writing poetry with or without a rhyme, 

Seem like a lifetime punishable crime.
