Phoenix (Anagha Sivadas)

Phoenix

Deep in the woods, doomed in the dark

Opened my eyes to a sudden spark

That aroused me and made me ignite

Gave me hope, gave me light.

My eyes glittered as grew the fire so dire

Devoured the dark, gave me a desire to aspire.

Plumed, flared and caught me with its flailing arms

Bathed me in his radiance and incandescent charms.

I beamed as the warmth made my heart glow,

Leaped in elation watching the words flow.

Which seized my brains and my intestines

And the words gave way to beautiful lines.

The thousand tongues of the flamboyant flames

Licked those lines and played mind games

It built a dynamic inferno of dreams

And I was ready to conquer, to cross all the realms.

A violent thunder shook the sky

A heavy downpour forced my fire to die

No time to think, I fought tooth and nail

Determined that I must not fail.

Looked up at the sky, drenched in the streams

"Don't even dare to dampen my dreams".

That golden age, even now, I do remember

As close to my heart, I clutch these little pieces of ember.

Wishing for it to burn my soul down to ashes

So that I could rise like a phoenix, dauntless, despite the dashes.
