Jailbreak (twentyoneproblems)
A law lied within the confinements of youth
Impossible to break or twist the guidelines of truth
Dull silver bars creaking as they close
When the migration commences and everyone knows
Like the flight of a bird in determined pace
Steadily gliding toward oblivions gaze to win the race
A monotonous marathon of repeated empty yearning
Peace of mind escaped the peripheral vision and made the distance a fuzzy realisation of learning
Metaphors only go so far as the eager lark
When we flick the switch of creative light instead of shying into the dark
But when the guidance to the switch becomes a mere acquaintance to our souls
How do we introduce on common ground to resume the necessary roles?
Jailbreak comes when we stop looking for what we cannot find
Stop crying for comfort and leave the past behind
Residence is an agreement of satisfactory condition and relation
Brought in by the preference of your loaned creation
When we change things around we cannot reverse
The satisfaction escapes and the feeling is not one to return with a persuasive converse
Drawn to an appeal of improvement elsewhere, however selfish the act
Nothing dwells where colour fades, a destroying fact
It's crushing when the colour in your creation is your displeased guest
Who would paint the walls in return for a place to rest
But you changed your mind, you preferred the blue over the red
So the colour you replaced left you for dead
"The bright was overwhelming!" you screamed as it slammed the door
But when you turned back around, you still found your gaze shying to the floor
The change was drastic, one extreme to the other
High to low, the place needed another cover
Take the red and the blue, make purple, but red was no more
Your options were few and deeply flawed, it wasn't fair
Keep the overwhelming blue, or leave the walls bare
To feel sadness at its peak, or feel nothing at all
The final solution; break down the wall
Jailbreak comes when we confine to easier spaces
Think smaller, box in, keep to blatant places
Feeling content with our cell and dealing with the problems risen
Before we tackle the issues around the entire prison
The ambience of surrounding is the basis of ability
It cannot be hated if we yearn for efficiency
Paint the walls with precision in the shades you desire
String fairy-lights and light candles to tempt the warm colours close to fire
Feel at peace in ones cell as the blue fades away
Leaving traces of lilac to balance and keep the blaze from decay
Once confinement of small boxes feels less trapped and more secure
It may be time to expand to the cells of others who are yet to feel as pure
You cannot aid without experience and knowledge
You can't paint someone's walls if your own don't display the necessary pledge
That help is at hand, one they can rely on
Without it, you do more harm than good and appear a con
Create the cell you confide in before
You expand upon horizons to something more
Jailbreak comes as the lark flies in
With the key to tomorrow fastened to its back with a pin
You can leave the cell that you spent years locked inside
A place you could compare to an elevation-based ride
The way a rollercoaster dips and soars with implanted memories
Is the same way decoration and design felt in the cell of impossibilities
When you felt too much, the paint too bright
Or when you felt nothing at all, searching through the dark for a light
But when you found peace in the middle, a gentle lavender
The ride levelled out, and ended shortly after
Because once the dramatic parts are left behind
There's no reason for continuation left to find
But unlike a ride, where the drops and soars are the highlights
The end of your sentence will remain one of the fondest times of your search to relieve plights
And when listing your achievements, your mind will never fail
To relive the time you broke out of jail
