Forever, My Shadow

The other one that follows I,

Only visible in contrast of light.

He hides within the grasp of darkness,

But in day, a reminder: we are heartless.

He is my guardian, my partner, he is me.

But he is the one I keep from those who wish to see.

He follows tethered at my feet,

And for all my acts takes a front row seat.

Whether good or not, whether night or day,

He is always there and is there to stay.

He holds my secrets, he holds my regrets,

He is my burden of forever, one I never will forget.
