"A Song To Alfred"

O, mine heart is pierced by Cupid!

Methinks I've gone absurd

Canst thou wit what the day shall bring?

Thy life I hast entered

Wither thou goest I shall go

I prithee thou be mine

To be herewith forevermore

Our destiny's intertwined.

Heretofore thou I will still love

And thou dost not see me

Howbeit you fancy someone else

A fine lady, not me.

Look at me, O sweet, dearest love

For I was ruined by thee

The heart I gave was all for naught

Is there someone I must be?

Our class was asked to write our own version of the poem "A Song To Celia" and here is mine. It is dedicated to my first love who never loved me back.
