sometimes i feel
as if i'm living
a lie

and pretending to want
something that no longer
brings me joy

but it's what my family
and those around me
are expecting

so maybe i'll just
continue buying into
this untrue want

hoping that maybe someday
it will bring me the joy
it used to

and that someday
i'll be happy
