Too Late
It's too late already
They tell us they are counting on us to fix things
They say that we have a chance
We will be the generation to finally take a stand
We are mad enough, smart enough, and passionate enough to fix the problems that our grandparents, our great grandparents, and hundreds before us have created it
We will be the ones to stop global warming, stop the wars, the fighting, the racism, the deforestation, overpopulation, the extinction rates
But scientists tell us it will be too late, it might be reversible now, but supposedly by 2035 it won't be enough, nothing will
We are children, we can't do much of anything yet
We have no power, but we have all the responsibility
And when we ask for help, when we scream and beg for someone to do something, anything...
We get told to sit down
We get told that we are children and we don't know anything, how can we possibly be more knowledgeable than adults in charge of countries, in charge of the world.
Sit down, go back to your phone, go home, play your video games, go post on your social media, and Snapchat your friends
Because what could we possibly know
About the fires, the rising sea, the animals disappearing, the forests being cleared away, about the disease, the poverty, the disappearing ozone and the temperatures getting more and more extreme every year
And we continue to fight, joining marches and posting information hoping it will reach someone anyone who will do something. Providing information to each other
And we still get told to go home, sit down, shut up, you don't know anything, we get ridiculed, and criticized and laughed at
And still all we can hope is that by the time it's our turn, it won't be too late
