Imaginary Friends
We played until the end of time.
Dancing in the moonlight that cast shadows in the corners of my room.
I can still hear your laughter from down the hall.
Sitting in my office I can imagine your delicate voice.
Your doe brown eyes shone with wonder.
You only stayed in that house.
Broken down, worn out, and faded.
That's what you are now.
Tears flooded your rosy pink cheeks.
We used to be so close,
But now you are only a memory stuck on replay.
You say you aren't imaginary,
But oh how well you lie.
Straight through your crooked teeth,
But now grown up,
I have come to know your tricks.
I said goodbye to my dearest friend,
Locked her away in my head,
To never be seen again.
