Cycle of poverty
They call me their mother
I carried them in my womb
But am I really a mother
I have given them no boon
I hear their cries
I hear their stomach growl
Their tattered feet stare at me
Their shivers travel down my spine
I need no food it's all yours I say
Yet they smile and make me eat too
I work everyday and try to build my life
But my life is a house of cards
I see their eyes twinkle
I see their cheeks rise in a smile
They deserve so much more
Yet they are now a part of this cycle too
