SCHOOL AGAIN

My eyes search these corridors

For the children we used to be

Skidding on those wet floors

And the times we skipped history.

Precious were those moments

We never wanted to lose

I still remember the days when

Even ice cream was difficult to choose.

Those were the days

When eyes were fixed on the boards

But minds out of control,

Lost in the playground's scoreboards.

Sitting on the wooden desks

And playing random games

We grew up leaving behind

Those classroom aims.

My eyes search the desks

For those doodles we drew

Secrets logs of messages

Between our close-knit crew.

Those scribblings on last page

The teacher saying 'hush'

Those secrets being shared

And teasing about the latest crush.

Time had changed

People had changed

But those little scribblings

And childish vows remain unchanged.

With the changing time

Our priorities change

School friends were left behind

And new ones came into range.

Lost are those moments

Hidden in the pages of our past

Those times are now long gone,

But at least the memories managed to last.
