THE SILLY POEM

THE SILLY POEM

for National Mad Hatters Day – Oct. 6th

Dedicated to Stripey

It's true I have a 'silly' hat,

A rain hat, Olive green.

When I don it, I'm sure you'll think,

it's not the nicest one you've seen.

But I'm only going to wear it

when I go walking in the rain.

Don't care if I get 'odd'looks,

Or if it makes me plain.

But that is all beside the point,

For today I can be silly.

Stripey told me that I could

In a way so willy, nilly.

So, perhaps I'll go to Tesco

And dance until I drop,

Up and down the aisles, round and round

Until they ban me from the shop.

I always thought what would people think

If when walking along, I broke into song

Like they do on the musicals. I would

sing 'Oh what a beautiful morning' from

Oklahoma. Only if I was in the mood,

of course! (I haven't done it yet....

But there is always tomorrow!)

Well, now I'm being really stupid!

That's enough of being silly,

I'm going to make myself a coffee

And sit down and watch some telly!
