Belligerence in Boots - Free Verse

THIS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT FREE VERSE (I hope!)

She marches, confidently, in through the school gates.

She is only five.

But she is Belligerence in Boots.

In one hand a pink water bottle and in the other a green school bag.

She enters the wooden gate, which separates

the reception area from the school playground.

Her high ponytail swinging, side to side to side

Held with a pink hair tie.

No smile goodbye today.

Not even a backwards glance,

Just a grumpy, if oh so pretty, grumpy face.

 Belligerence in Boots.

And I miss her so,

Since she started school.

Where are they now, all the

Cuddles and kisses and all the fun we shared

Together?

I can still hear the laughter...

But today, today she is Belligerence....in Boots...
