mother earth

She holds nature in her left hand
Tight closed fist with muscles taut.
Trees quake and shiver at her her fury
Trembling leaves fall faint upon the stones

Her shadow blocks the moon and causes the sun to seek cover behind clouds of black and grey.

Her eyes are the sea. Deep pools of blues and greens. Sloshing and threatening to flow

Her knees are the desert. Dry and brown
Scratched and barren from her constant
Kneeling worry.

Her smile is the rainbow holding treasure
And a beauty so rare, nature stops to view.

She watches humanity. Struggle to destroy her. Slowly chipping her soul bit by bit

She blinks trying to stop her view as the rain forests of her hair fall in chunks into the Milky Way.

Her stomach the mountain rumbles with hot acid trying to flow as her grief stricken scream
unleashes a single tear that raises a tsunami.

She shakes with unleashed sob and buildings crumble returning to the dust from which they came.

They blame her. Those human destroyers. She feels their anger in her barren heart.

Her left clenched fist shakes with fatigue as nature swirls to match her mood. Ageless, she knows the chips will soon expand. And she will fall at last and become food for the stars.

Her right hand, holds the cover. Black and thick. Soft and seductively it whispers. To cover her left hand would be all it took. To silence the fury of it all. And save her shredded soul.

But somewhere. Across her body. A tiny seed sprouts. Like velvet its leaves uncurl looking for the sun.  And because there is still a single seed of hope--she stands.
