cold water slips between my shoulder blades
my teeth and my toes
harmless, only then the temperature drops
and the strips of water freeze into icy fingers
tearing me apart
burying deeper and deeper into my skin
the ice then reaches my veins
travels across my body
freezing limb after limb
until,
it reaches my heart
and slowly my strength gives out
I can barely think anymore
so I let go
and my body gets fossilized
