4. my high school confession
my high school confession
When good things were other kids' things,
I put my pride into my loneliness.
When tears were only water,
And bruises were only skin and flesh,
I start looking away from them
Like how adults look at out-of-wedlock children.
As others were always ahead of me,
I was stuck in the same place again.
I had rushed many times to the finish line,
Yet the sun had always set before I could reach halfway.
Over and over again,
Like how good things weren't mine.
Now I look back, I'm still afraid of it,
Running in circles again.
A chuckle and a pair of moist eyes.
It's been a long way,
And longer it will be,
I thank you for the race you took again and again.
The you who forgot the taste of your tears before wiping them.
