Gone, Gone, Gone
Written December 22, 1926 at age 32
Gone are the ways that the girlies used to have,
Gone are the days when they never used lip salve.
Gone from this world to a warmer place below
Are all the modest ways the girlies used to know.
Gone are the styles that the boys all liked so well;
Gone from the streets is the old-time village belle;
Gone from our reach are the girls who want a home.
That's why the boys have started o'er this world to roam.
Gone are the girls who were always sweet and shy;
Gone are the girls who care for lullaby;
Gone is the pal more precious than a pearl.
Can't someone parcel post to me an 'old-time' girl?
Note - This was 82 years ago, what would he think now?
