The soul is lifted.

In just this moment can I feel achieved,

That with dance, I am gifted.

The music starts, calm,

And I glide to the floor.

I forget all that saddens me, so I raise my palm,

Knowing that dance has opened my locked door.

Just a few minutes on stage,

After months of commitment.

My feet, they slide, free from my cage,

My cage that locks me in a world of chastisement.

All of a sudden, I spin in the air.

Jumping, twirling, pointing my toes.

A smile on my face then gives me happiness that seems will never wear.

To dance away the pain is a blessing, my heart knows.
