This poem was inspired by the song Never Ending Nightmare by Citizen Soldier.

Endless Nightmare

I won't sleep tonight because I know that it's gonna be a war.

So many thoughts keep me awake.

I've been up wondering why I'm even worth fighting for.

So why am I worth fighting for?

I'm getting so tired of holding my ground.

The price that I pay to survive seems to be so high!

So I'm raising my white flag tonight, because I don't feel like fighting them tonight.

When I shut my eyes they're there waiting for me.

They find me every time, there's no escape!

Will I never be free!

Free from my endless nightmare.

There's a monster I caged deep behind my eyes.

I can never escape it!

I can never escape my endless nightmare no matter how hard I try!

I've been running for miles!

When the morning comes, I know it will still be there.

My endless nightmare!

I pull the veil over my eyes, so I won't see the person I've become.

What am I doing with my life!?

I've tried to stop staring at the sun, but my eyes always get the best of me.

I'm on the edge, I'm in too deep!

Why won't someone come and save me from this endless nightmare?!

Why can't you see that I'm right here waiting!?

I'm right here in an endless nightmare!

I close my eyes, it's still right there waiting for me!

I hide, yet it finds me again!

Am I trapped here forever no hope of being free!

I can never escape the endless nightmare.

No matter how many miles I run.

When morning comes, it will still be there; my endless nightmare.

I've almost had enough!

Almost had enough of knowing I just couldn't get much lower.

It's got me so messed up.

Got me so messed up, not knowing when this story's over.

Not knowing when my endless nightmares will end.

I mean if they ever end.

It's so hard to fight for myself!

When living means I'm living in hell.

I can never escape this endless nightmare, it doesn't matter if I close my eyes or run for miles; it will still be there!

There's no escape from this endless nightmare!
