Poem 5: Storm
A flash of lighting,
A clap of thunder,
And everything
Starts going under
Rain pours down
In countless streams;
The sound of it hitting the ground
Drowns out my screams.
I run and I run
To find shelter from this storm...
A cave, perhaps? A bunker?
Or at least a dorm?
There's no place nearby
For me to hide,
So I continue to run,
Counting each stride.
Five hundred strides now,
Soon to be more —
I'll collapse by the time I find shelter,
If not before!
My lungs burn for air
As I continue to run...
This is not exactly
My definition of fun.
Tears run down my face,
Or is it just the rain?
Either way, I'm not sure
If I can handle this pain.
I suddenly stumble
And fall ro the ground;
I flinch and shiver
As I look around.
Finally, over there,
My shelter is found:
There, in the rocks,
A cave underground!
I quickly get up
And rush inside,
Then lie down and wait
As I think in my mind:
"If I didn't fall,
I wouldn't have found this cave;
Maybe my biggest mistake
Is not being brave.
I should have stopped
For a minute to rest
So I could look around
And find which shelter is best."
So there I rest,
In peace, at last,
Still remembering
Not to be so fast.
Stumbling in life
May leave you pain,
But soon enough
There'll be sun after the rain.

I didn't draw a picture this time...oh well, I might later.
I wrote this because there was a storm outside and I was scared.
