This will be lengthy, cliché and without a title. Enjoy :)

--------

You'd been eyeing the tiny shop from across the street and weighed your options. Your morning hadn't gone exactly as planned, with you rushing out the house without breakfast. As a result, your mood wasn't exactly up to par and worried your grumpiness would show.

Drawing in a breath, you quickly parallel parked in front of it and could now make out the inside of the café. You stepped out, grabbed your wallet and neared the door. Your hand reached for the ebony handle and pulled as you figured your mood would certainly be fixed with coffee.

A tiny bell rang out as you stepped in and the aroma hit you like a brick wall. You were surprised to find only a handful of people within, happily sipping their caffeinated drinks and nibbling on pastries that made your stomach growl at the very sight.

After surveying the inside, you walked towards the cash register to find no one was manning it. However, as you were just about to call, your mouth snapped shut at the appearance of a skeleton. He was only about a couple of inches shorter than you, dressed in barista attire. His name tag shined it the light, and in black letters read "Sans". A permanent grin plastered on his face was the cherry on top.

You were particularly fond of monsters by now after news rang out that they had broken the barrier. However, you'd never in a million years thought you would have seen a skeleton. Too lost in thought, you almost didn't register that he had said something to you. You met the lights in Sans' eye sockets, to find his attention was, obviously, directed at you.

You stammered and immediately shut up again, embarrassed. He made an expression as if raising an eyebrow before his face softened.

"heh, take your time." He said lazily, his voice was deeper than expected. He leaned a bit on the counter and waited patiently, closing his eyesockets (how he did that was beyond you). You looked up at the neatly written menu.

"Uh, I-I'll take a mocha frappé and a blueberry muffin, please."

"will that be for here or to go?" He half opened an eye socket to ring up your order.

Maybe you could indulge yourself a bit today. After all you did have a pretty hectic morning. Your alarm hadn't gone off and you woke up with only 10 minutes to shower and dress for work. As you sped in your car to work, halfway there you realized it was a Saturday. Sleep was too far gone at this point.

"For here." You stated with a small smile. He nodded and told you the total for everything. After you paid and received your change, he went to work whipping up your frappé. "Business slow?"

He glanced at you with a mildly surprised face, as though no one tried to initiate a conversation with him before. "yep. but it is 7:30 a.m on a saturday." He grinned. Oh yeah, you had forgotten once again.

"Oh yeah. Haha, forgot about that." You muttered, echoing your thoughts. He raised another bonebrow at you, probably wondering how anyone could forget it was a Saturday. "Let's just say I thought it was Friday and that I had work." Another smile tugging at your lips.

He chuckled and handed you your muffin and frappé, which you happily sipped on. Maybe today wasn't so bad, coffee right? You wonder if this still would have happened even if you hadn't woken up so early. Then you realized you were still standing at the cash register and Sans was staring at you. "you seem to have a latte on your mind." You stopped drinking and made direct eye contact.

Was that a god damn pun.

Next thing you know, you were close to doubling over in laughter. You slowly recovered and wiped a tear from your eye. "Oh man, that was pretty good." You saw that his lazy grin was now a rather smug smile, obvious that he enjoyed the small victory of making you laugh. "Hey, Sans?"

"hmm?"

"You know how you're a skeleton and all?" You asked as innocently as possible. He looked at you with confusion all over his face but nods. "So, is it hard to espresso yourself?" The look on his face is priceless, it's equivalent to the look on a child's face who's just been taken to a candy store. Another highlight of your morning.

You walk over to a vacant table, leaving him absolutely awestruck. A couple seconds later, he saunters over looking a bit nervous. "'s ok if i sit here?" He gestures to the seat next to you and you nod before he takes a seat.

"Are you sure you won't get in trouble? I mean you are at at work and all." You say, a hint of concern lacing your words.

"nah. business is slow for now." He was right. No new customers had come in from the time you first walked in, however the ones that were here previously had cleared out. You shrugged and ate your blueberry muffin. "so.. to whom do i have the pleasure of meeting?"

You soon realize that he was asking your name. "Y/N. It's Y/N. Nice to meet you."

"y/n, huh?" he said your name softly, trying it out.

"Yep. That's me." You laughed a bit, your mood completely contrasting the one earlier. You finished your muffin and sipped thoughtfully on your coffee, not even realizing that you finished it until you glanced at Sans.

"uh, y/n. i don't think there's anything left." He chuckled, looking at your drink.

"W-Whoops. Wasn't paying attention, haha."

After a bit of chatting with Sans, you found out a bit about his brother and that he was even friends with Frisk. The very human who broke the barrier. You even found out that he was pretty well known himself.

"Wow, you're a pretty important bag of bones, huh?" You caught yourself smiling for the umpteenth time this morning.

"you flatter me."

You two shared some more coffee related puns and knock knock jokes before you began exchanging your goodbyes. You threw the muffin wrapper and coffee cup in the trash and was halfway out the door before Sans called your name and walked up to you, sweat beading on his skull and a cobalt coloring dusted on his cheekbones. You turned to face him questioningly.

"so uh, could i have your number? i lost mine." He smiled sheepishly at you. (yes, you will give the smol skele your number whether you like it or not.)

A blush formed on your cheeks as you nodded nervously and fished out the receipt you had gotten from your order, as well as a pen. Using the door as a flat surface you quickly jotted down your digits and gave him the paper.

"heheh, thanks." He walked back to behind the counter and gave you a final wave. You waved back and walked out, getting out your keys to unlock the car. You stepped in, started it up and drove off.

-------

Your phone vibrated as you lounged on your couch scrolling thorough Netflix. A number you didn't recognize popped up and you opened the notification.

(???) ???-????: knock knock

You shook your head as you already knew who it was. You renamed his contact as "Punmaster" and replied.

You: Come in.

A couple minutes has passed until another notification lit your phone screen up.

Punmaster: aw come on, throw a guy a bone here.

You giggled at his joke and told him to get back to work. You flipped through Netflix to find a good show, all the while your skeletal barista was still on your mind. You'd definitely be making more trips to that café.
