summary:

oaklynn parker had chaos etched into her very bones. having been surrounded by death for most of her life, first in the military and now in a world where corpses walked, she was no stranger to the path of desctrution chaos always left behind. even in the small community of alexandria where she had found refuge, she could not shake the disarray that lived within her. and so she found it hard to connect to the people around her, all so happy and carefree and able to leave behind their scars.

it's only when rick grimes and his self proclaimed family find santuary in her home that she finally finds someone who seems to hide the same restlessness behind his eyes. reserved redneck daryl dixon catches her eye from day one and she cannot shake the feeling that he was somehow meant to end up here. that their chaotic lives were somehow meant to intertwine.

and no matter how much the rough hunter fights it at first, his entire being is drawn to the gorgeous chaos that resided in her eyes. and slowly but surely the two start to find balance within each other's company. if only the world had granted them the rest they both so desperately needed.

extra:

- so basically oaklynn is a key member of the alexandrian community and has a lot of personal issues she covers with humor, which makes her seem very careless. 'everything is like a joke to her' is what everyone else sees, which daryl sees through but still doesn't do anything about. i think it would be a refreshing yet interesting pair where oaklynn is very sarcastic and witty, while daryl is very serious and reserved.

- oaklynn is obviously not stupid or a liability or anything like that, just the front makes her seem like that. i would love to see a scene where she shows off her true badassness and surprises team fam. daryl and oaklynn do not get together right away, or even have romantic feelings right away. they start out not really caring if they ever talked or not, to becoming friends and then later something romantic. one on one more serious talks and moments between the two are key here, there will definitely need to be quite a few of those. in those little moments they start to realise how much pain they both hold within and by being with each other they seem to find some sort of rest that pulls them even closer together.

- oaklynn has quite a few personal issues. she watched her family be ripped apart before her eyes, including her daughter and boyfriend. this causes her to go into a very deep, dark depression. she almost decided to give up before aaron and eric found her and brought her back to the community. she is ex-military, as mentioned before, and maybe she was at a military base with her boyfriend and daughter. maybe the base is overrun and they are killed that way, who knows, that's very open to change.

- i was thinking that she is not taken by negan but he definitely takes a shine to her, as he also has that sarcastic, dark witty humor and personal issues himself. during the war you can decide what she does and what she doesn't do. also i would love for her to really built a bond with both carl and judith since the children remind her of her own daughter. she definitely has a mother instinct, which resurfaces after a long time of being gone when she meets the grimes children. and when carl dies he leaves a letter for her, telling her that even though she is drawn to chaos and death, she needs to stop and find peace and rest eventually.

- she's very pissed when rick let's negan live because she believes the only way this war can truly end is if he dies. and so she stands with both maggie and daryl in season 9, though she does feel slightly guilty for it, always hearing carl's words about finding rest in the back of her mind.

- you may decide if at this point it gets a sequel, another part, or just continues as the same book. when rick 'dies' she's obviously greatly upset. the two were fairly close and they both shared quite a bit of the same traumas and kicked ass together. and when daryl leaves alexandria, oaklynn doesn't let him go easily and goes after him. after her giving him a long speech he let's her stay, though he remains a little distant. over the years they become closer again and slowly oaklynn starts to understand what carl meant in his letter by finding rest, because just being with daryl does that for her.

- also in the rest of season 9 she feels very responsible for lydia, since that's her mother instinct kicking in once again. this really needs to be a theme throughout the book. she had a daughter and the void that losing her left behind can never be filled again, but she triest by caring for other kids who need her help. she doesn't want to watch another kid die again. her and daryl totally unofficially adopt lydia.
