summary:

gwen turner thought she was done fighting. she had been doing it all her life, first at the police academy, then when the apocalypse started. but when she and her family reached the alexandria safe zone, she believed it to be over. the world outside was dead but she was alive, safe within the walls of her new home. finally she could start to heal and grief for the people she lost.

but all that changed when aaron brought in a new group, with amongst them a familiar face. gwen is reunited with her best friend from the police academy tara chambler but she is not so sure she is happy with seeing her again. because with this new group comes trouble, one that begins to form a threat against the safety of her family.

and even though gwen once would've given everything to see tara again, now every look at her is terrifying, a reminder of what life outside those walls looks like, a life that forces you to fight every second of the day. but gwen has lost her fighting spirit and is not sure she even wants to find it back.

- so this a very simple and cute plot for my baby tara. i wanted to create a character that is very much the opposite of her that instead of always stepping up to fight, much rather would choose safety and comfort. and so gwen was born.

- gwen is a very strong character that knows exactly what she wants and why she wants it. when the apocalypse started she lost her mother but managed to survive with her brother and father. they got to alexandria and when they did, gwen did her very best for her little brother to live a normal life again.

- and so when rick and his group show up, gwen is very weary of them, like most of the alexandria people. she wants most of all for them to leave for all the chaos they're causing. tara cannot really understand how gwen turned from this fighter into someone who seems to just want to run away from everything and pretend nothing bad is happening outside the walls.

- very slowly gwen and tara get close again. i really want it to be slow burn and as they grow closer, gwen's will to fight returns as well. it's like being with tara gives her this fire.

- also don't make the story just about gwen and tara. gwen is really close with her little brother so i'd love to see some cute little scenes between them. her father is a whole other story however. gwen blames him for their mother's death, so she's mostly very angry at him. but he's trying very hard to make it up to her by helping to protect alexandria. it's up to you when and if she forgives him.
