PLOT SUMMARY

Adira Carmon is a bright young witch that loves to read. One day she stumbles upon a mysterious book that lets her assume how to break the curse cast upon too many beings in the wizarding world by a dark witch. When she tries to let her teachers know in order to spread the word, not many believe her.

Her friends and love interest join her to go on the quest of finding the witch to attempt to break the seemingly unbreakable curse. Will they succeed?

POSSIBLE EXCERPT FROM PLOT
(you don't need to keep the same style of writing i went for here and don't have to use this, also note i am not good at writing and English isn't my mother tongue so please excuse any mistakes and feel free to correct them) 

Adira looks out of the window of the Hogwarts Express on her way to the one place that normally never fails to provide her with happiness. She carefully observes how the little raindrops that left the grey-whitish sky and stuck to the pane earlier traveled to its side, motivated by the rapidity at which they are moving.

She is unable to pinpoint any other memory of it ever raining whilst she was on her way to school after the summer, but it doesn't surprise her. The weather seems to reflect the general mood of the wizarding world ever since things changed. 

But now Adira is sure that she found a cure to the cautiousness of feeling emotions and the way everyone took distance to one another... She doesn't want the world to be this dark anymore and yet, she can't believe that she was the one to find out- surely at least one other witch or wizard must already know about this?

About to get one of her books- the book that should help her turn things back to normal-  out of her left coat pocket, one of the twins addresses her.  

The warm, sweet feeling in her chest, that she hasn't felt in so long before she had consumed the words written on the yellow, crinkly paper, hides behind her lonely heart again, not spreading through her body. She misses just simply seeing  it, craves to open it again to have that old-book smell fly into her nostrils, desperately longing to check if it is even still there. 

She turns away from the window, pushing her hair to one side. One of her hands rests in her pocket now.

"Are you okay, Adi?" Lorcan's voice cracks slightly and she asks herself if she should confront him with the same question.

"You look a bit pale." Lysander adds in concern, "Should we search the trolley witch? Some chocolate frogs would surely cheer you up."

"Actually," she speaks confident for once, a hint of a smile painted on her lips now and a faint blush brushing her cheeks, "I'm more than okay."  There is that feeling again, hope mixed with strength and determination and something else that she just can't make out clearly at this point.

The two boys look at her perplexed, not knowing wether or not she is serious or bluffing.

Her fingers grip the book and she pulls it out cautiously, afraid that it might fall apart but glad to feel that it is in fact still here and real. She hasn't imagined it. 

The young witch holds it in both of her hands, Lysander and Lorcan moving to sit next to her, curious as to how what their friend is holding differed from any other book they had seen her absorb in the last few years.

Adira opens and closes her mouth a few times, unsure of how to explain, the weight the significant words have on her tongue is too immense for her to speak them. She figures to just open the book and let them see for themselves, reassuring herself under her breath in repeating the only words that would make that feeling spread to even the tiniest of her toes, 

"Everything will be okay again." 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / NOTES / IDEAS

! definition of 'splinters' / 'splintering' ! :

can't be influenced/ stopped ## - can happen at any time / stage in a relationship, the process is only visible to the person losing a tiny part of their soul - it appears as smoke / fog that is a mix of black, blue, purple, grey and white #, memories are sacred as they aren't affected by splintering but you may lose emotional connection to them / the lessons you have learned from these experiences because they contribute to what shapes you as a human being

-you do not lose yourself enterily (and splintering is not directly deadly but weakens you immensely)  but what is exchanged cannot be regained and it causes witches and wizards to be too cautious about loving;

-> they find themselves in a magical but bleak world where everyone tries to keep away from love ##

-you have to have strong feelings for the other person in order to obtain their character traits / maybe not only love but also hate?

-pity if you fall in love with someone who hides / doesn't share part of their self and you feel love anyway/ obtain character traits (also if it would include hate?)

-they're sixth year's at hogwarts  #

-adira and love interest are complete opposites, e.g. significant other is very confident, adira is full of self-doubt but parts of these traits get exchanged ?

-have to try and kill the witch with enchanted bow (that is hidden somewhere at hogwarts);  the arrow has to be produced from the wizard's/ witch's wand (?) and has to go straight through brouillard's / sombre's heart in order to break the curse #

-meanings i found for 'Adira' [ah-deer-ah], ('dear') : strong, majestic, lightning, the moon

-'Lysander' : liberator of mankind ; Sakespeare's a midsummer night's dream: play takes place 'lit by moonlight' (which Adira could have pointed out to him the first time they talk and he says he's aware of that because his mother's name is Luna and it goes back to her ?) 

-'Lorcan' : little fierce one

-splinters can be replaced with fragments [fragmenting] , fractions [fractioning], scraps, shreds (alternative titles)

-unforgivable curses won't break the spell / don't effect the dark witch because she obtains power from splintering that protects her (?)

-in French: 'sombre' means 'dark' , 'brouillard' means 'fog'

-meaning of Elvina is "elf or magical being, friend" or "truly foreign"
