Chapter 4 : The True Dragon and The Shadow

Arc City... Where the secret society of the Snek lies.

Honkai beasts had infiltrated into a sector of this city, now the city's defensive forces are trying to fight them off.

The World Serpent would never dip their hands into these matters, but nowadays, they often send a lone boy as backup...

It is raining hard, and a figure, covering himself in a long, black leather jacket could be seen parkouring on the rooftops, making his way to where the battle is going on. Arc City's defensive forces consist of cyborgs, bought from World Serpent, and mechs provided by Schicksal. They could fight against Honkai, but not against an organized pack, such as the one attacking them right now.

"3 winged ones flanking their left." - Jackal talked to the boy who is making his way there. "Take them down."

"I saw them."

He draws his sword out, it's a straight sword, and launches himself down to the Archangels (the name of these flying fuks). He swiftly cut these creatures in half, killing each at one strike. Then quickly moved on.

"No more flankers."

"Roger."

Thinking it's clear, he jumped straight into the swarm of Honkai beasts, past the defense line of the Arc City's defensive force, and then he attacks the beasts at all direction, he does it so quick that only the cyborgs could have kept up with his speed, while the beasts still don't have any idea on what's happening, they're already cut to pieces.

He went straight through the swarm as a tornado, leaving chunks of flesh behind. Until he stood in front of the biggest one, thinking it was the leader.

"I don't have time to play around." - He said and did a charge attack, expecting it would be devastating, however, it did not. He stood there like an idiot, with his sword penetrated into the flesh of the beast, and nothing else happened.

"..."

"... You... Very well." - He said as he pulled his sword out and went for a slashing strike instead, this wounded the beast slightly as it managed to block with its left arm.

The beast has a thicker skin layer compared to the others' in the same swarm, making it harder for sword wielders to deal with. However, the boy remains calm and changes his stance. He's about to do another thrust attack, but his sword is glowing this time.

"Lend me your strength... Holy Blade..." - For a second there, before he disappeared from everyone's sight, some cyborgs actually saw his sword increase in size, and radiate pure white light rays.

And yes, he disappeared for a second as stated, then he was seen again, but standing in front of the beast, whose head is gone, with no trace left behind, as if it was fired by a powerful plasma cannon.

With the leader of the pack killed, the remaining beasts screeched in terror, and they retreated to the border of the city.

"Mission complete, Jackal." - The boy put the sword away on his back.

"Good work, as expected from you... Shadow."

"That's all, right? I don't want to waste more time hanging around these half human half machine freaks." - The boy said as he walked towards the cyborgs.

"Yes." - Jackal said before cutting off.

"... Clean the mess up" - The boy walked past the cyborgs after patting their shoulders.

Suddenly, Jackal contacted him again.

"Ah, what is it?"- The boy asked.

"No idiot, there's a bigger pack approaching your current location."

"What type?"

"Crawlers and Diggers." - Jackal said, as the boy just saw a bunch of Honkai infested beasts can be spotted, climbing on the buildings as spiders.

A bunch of worm-like beasts with sharp teeth just emerged from the ground.

"...... Please tell me their leader is-"

"Detected their mother, she's around 30 kilometers from your current position to the South." - Jackal said.

"... Fuck. Can we do this another day?" - He asked as he approached the beasts. But they screamed at him. "Alright, fuck it. This is gonna be painful... for all of us." - He draws his sword out again.

"Hey there, it's me, Shadow. I bet you're wondering why I was introduced into this story in this way. To be honest, I have no clue either, maybe i'm just unlucky or the author hates me..."

Basically, I turned my friend into Human Resource Department.

We have this character named "Shadow", who is :

Edgy (can't be sure on this one).

Self proclaimed rival of Y/n (future spoilers).

Definitely not based on my friend.

Strong.

Super Unlucky. (Yes).

Anyways. If I stopped posting after this chapter, I am dead with lots of stabbing wounds of course.

Back to Hyperion.

"Good morning Captain, hope you slept well... You're up early." - Theresa said as she saw you inside the kitchen, she was getting herself some water.

"Good morning, madam Theresa." - He said as he was reading the newspaper while having breakfast. "Today is my first day so I should be right on time."

Mei is also in the kitchen, preparing breakfast with some other people.

"Just call me Theresa, no need to be formal, it feels awkward. You don't need to be up early though... There's barely any work for us when there is no enemy."

"You're wrong, Theresa. There is work, a lot of them, in fact."

"?"

Captain's office.

After the breakfast, Theresa went to your office since there was nothing to do anyways. She stepped in and the first thing she sees is you reading the papers, while there's a tall stack of paper on your desk.

"That's... Paperwork? Where? When? What?" - Theresa looked confused as she tried to remember if there were any paperwork-related things assigned to them.

"No no, I asked everybody to tell me what they want to improve about the facilities, or the problems that they have, so I can check if I can do anything for them." - You said as you read through paper after paper, while taking down notes as well.

"Ah... That was... Okay?"

"It could improve everyone's performances and morale." - You said. "Theresa, could you help me with some of these things? Tell the ones who are in the security unit to turn the shields and turrets on, I noticed the last time we have those on were like months ago, that's why there's always some enemy hitting us."

"Ah...." - Theresa now remembers about these things, and they are responsible for pretty much damage... That even she forgot. "On it Captain."

"Oh and, do you want anything? Theresa? There can be no one left unsatisfied." - You asked.

"Ah... I'll think about it..."

"Yes yes, take your time."

Theresa left the office, leaving you there, reading the papers. While taking notes, you drink some tea as well. There are some papers that... concern you, for the sake of this story, I will not list all of them, but only some most chaotic ones.

We need to install some more air conditioners in the bathroom, it's getting too hot these days.

We need to change the plate on one of the extraction engines, it is getting dirty, can't cook meat while flying on it.

I NEED MORE POWERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Please send my roommate to an asylum or some shit, I can't take it anymore.

Why does the dog pee?

My jeans are gone, has anyone seen them somewhere?

DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR

Captain is handsome UwU

For the sake of mankind, Hyperion should begin upgrading the soundproof quality of the walls, the doors and stuffs, at night I heard people moaning louder than my dad sneezing and I would usually have some work in the early morning.

He didn't pull out in time, what should we do?

My squadmate is annoying as fuck, can we send her somewhere else, please.

"..." - You sat there, after reading through all of this chaotic shit, and decided to reward yourself with a walk outside. "Still, I wonder who were they complaining about..."

While you were taking a walk and enjoying the beautiful scenery as the Hyperion was flying high in the air, the alarms suddenly goes off. You were confused for a second, of what was happening, and then you headed straight to the bridge just to see everyone seem to be rushing their work, as if something urgent was going on.

"What is happening?"

"It's here Captain! The dragon! more than 500 kilometers to our north!" - One of the navigators said. Their facial expressions say that this is a bad thing to happen.

"Dragon? What dragon?"

"Benares, the Void Queen's executioner..." - You heard Himeko's voice, she stepped out from the elevator and approached you. "She was also spotted joining the Second Honkai War, it's a Judgement-Class, so things won't be easy, even for us, Captain."

"All are ready sir, do we proceed to the dragon's current location or fall back and wait for reinforcements?"

"...." - You thought carefully about the possible decisions.

"What's your call?"

"I say we pursue the dragon. Could not let it roam around freely, requesting reinforcement from the HQ as well." - You ordered.

"Roger!"

"About our Valkyries forces... Are they capable of fighting this dragon?" - You asked Himeko.

"Oh... Don't worry about that, Captain, some of us are strong enough against it, but... If this is the same Benares that we've gotten records back in 2000." - Himeko said.

"..."

"Anyways, we will need to prepare all of our equipment, Captain, you stay here okay? If you need anything just call us." - Himeko said as she left in a hurry, to the hallways again and get to her room to grab some stuff.

"Alright... Let's hope that this mission will be easy... This would be my first day and... a dragon, my luck is gone? Yay." - You cheered inside as you observed the map, it showed a big red dot, which represents the dragon.

To Where Benares is.

For years... I have been sent to unknown lands... by my Queen, I met some other dragons... and they have taught me how to be stronger... Now nothing could stand in the presence of a true dragon... Such as I, Benares.

The white-scaled dragon rests on top of a mountain, as the surrounding below is buried deep within intense snow storms. Benares was the cause of this "natural disaster", as her Queen would call it. Now she has changed, evolved, adapted, and became a much stronger dragon than the one she used to be.

"So this is the dragon that used to cause major damage on our forces back then? So easy, sneak past it without it knowing." - Some dudes in black robes appeared on the mountain, behind Benares, from within her shadow on the ground.

"..." - Benares doesn't even look at them.

They think that Benares still don't even know they exist, which is a perfect opportunity for them. They drew their little curved knives out, seeming weak but they have been poisoned, a cut would be lethal to any living being.

"We, the Dark Knives shall begin our way to the top with this dragon..." - One of these guys said, as he leaped forward to Benares, attempted to aim for her head with their fellow companions.

Suddenly, a chill wind blew towards them, it seemed like it was coming from behind Benares, but they weren't aware that it was Benares who created the wind, which instantly froze all of them while they were mid air.

They should have noticed that it was not Benares who did not notice them, but rather, it was their existence meant no threat to her, that she didn't even care. Now they had to pay for their misunderstanding, by shattering when they hit the ground.

"Don't think we are going down this easily!" - One of them shouted as they used their non-frozen-yet arm to throw their knife to Benares.

The knife did actually scratch Benares.

"I won! Serve you right, you cocky dragon!" - They were caught by some of their allies who stood down below, who did not get frozen.

"..." - Now, Benares turned her head over, gazing upon these fragile human beings, who tried to kill her just seconds ago. They couldn't even breathe from the pressure that she gave them, just by staring at them alone. They were scared, as if they were facing an immovable mountain. Even the poisoned knife did shit against her, as her scales were harder than steel.

How foolish they were to challenge a True Dragon.

Now they have realized their mistake, and now they try to run for their lives, leaving the remaining people who have been frozen behind. They went as fast as they could, without looking back, hoping to be able to escape through the Dragon's gaze by the snow storms it had created.

Before any of them could have got down the mountain, all of them, were wiped out by one single unknown attack from Benares, which has also wiped clean a part of the mountain as well, all she did was swing her left arm, now can be seen moving.

"Disappointing... But no... That means... There shall be no threat against my glorious Queen..." - Benares mumbles as it goes back to resting, and waiting...

Meanwhile, at somewhere, where the Royal Blades are taking action...

"My Lord! We have successfully burnt every single civilian in this town down alive!" - One of the Captains of the Royal Blades legion reported to Ravenblood, who can be seen staring into a map, placed on a huge rock.

And yeah... There's a town burning in the background but let's just ignore them, this is a normal thing for these lunatics.

"Alright... So the alarm was false, these filthy cultists were luring smaller legions to this place and killing them... Slowly crippling our forces." - Ravenblood said, and that is exactly what happened here. "But how unlucky they were to face us, the most esteemed legion of Schicksal."

Ravenblood stepped towards his ship, and asked his men to start packing things back up.

"Now, we have to make haste, Hyperion is in great danger, they could have done the same thing to the other legions if we do not purge them. TO HYPERION!"

His men showed him their war cry again, until another guy from the legion disturbed him with an urgent report.

"Commander Commander! Emergency signal detected! There's some serious Honkai beasts' swarm around here! Local defensive forces are requesting backup!"

"What?" - Ravenblood is surprised. "If that's the case... Then let's go help them for now, we cannot afford to leave any swarm unchecked."

And yes, they got sidetracked... Again.

At Marika's room. And yes the girl she kidnapped is still kidnapped.

"..." - Marika is staring at her phone, she's been doing that for hours, and kept rolling around on her bed, and facing the Teri Teri plushies. "How- How- How... How can I even do this..."

Turns out, the girl recommended Marika to go chat with Theresa through social media apps... And it is a viable option since Marika indeed, has her contact info. But she is nervous as heck... to send a message.

"I- I- I cannot do this...

No no no no no no no ... But I want to...

But what if she reject me later on..............

EVEN WORSE! WHAT IF SHE FORGOT WHO I WAS?

EVEN WORSEEEE!!!!! WHAT IF SHE DOESN'T REPLY?

THEN I WILL FOREVER BE WAITING FOR HER MESSAGE LIKE A FOOL!!!!!!! NYOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

She proceeds to throw her phone away, but instantly catches it using teleportation, time stop, reality bending because the phone was about to hit one of Theresa's limited edition plushies.

"That was close... But why am I even panicking? No no, I shouldn't! I am the great Marika! Of Schicksal! There is nothing that could go wrong if I just send her something like Hi or Hello! Totally not!" - Now she got her confidence back, she turned on the messaging app again, but got nervous when she entered Theresa's DM.

"KYAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Now you know why she's been there for hours.
