Chapter 8

DAHYUN POV:

We had it all figured out. Sana was to stay with Jisoo for protection in a room Mina hadn't seen yet in the building-- Jennie's room, mostly because Jennie never let anyone into her room. Tzuyu was going to be in Mina's way first and if she got past Tzuyu it was going to be me, then Lisa, Rosé, Momo and lastly, Chaeyoung. Jennie was supposed to be around, with her skills as a sniper ready if things really did get that bad. We were hoping she wouldn't get to Chaeyoung because we really weren't sure if Chaeyoung would be capable of stopping Mina.

It was scary, terrifying really. We sat quietly for a moment just waiting for Mina to burst through those doors angry and murderous. We were all on our toes with nervous energy flowing through us.

Then I heard it, the door slamming open and Tzuyu yelling. She was here.

"MINA STOP THIS!" Tzuyu yelled.

I could the two of them fighting with loud grunts and yells. Then I heard a loud thud against a wall and I knew that someone was just thrown, I just couldn't tell if it was Mina or Tzuyu. I hoped neither was dead. I figured out who the thud was as soon as Mina came running towards me and fear seemed to grow inside me. Mina seemed feral, or beyond so, and it was blatantly obvious that I was going to lose this fight, but I needed to at least try.

I braced myself as she came at me, eyes narrowing darkly as if they were peering into my soul. To say that I was terrified was an understatement.

"Move," Mina simply said.

"Mina, I will not..." I said, trying to sound confident, but the slight shakiness of my voice was still easily heard.

"Dahyun, I just need to get to Sana," Mina said, almost calmly, as if this were her will.

Then it really hit me. Mina had to have done this in some way out of her own will. The Mina I knew would fight even DNA altering chemicals for her family and for Chaeyoung. However, she was about to lose Chaeyoung again. Chaeyoung was technically still dead... Her body would fail soon and I'd lose my sister... again. I was going to go through loss just as Mina was, but for Mina, her life depended on Chaeyoung, or at least her sanity did.

"Chaeyoung... This is how you're going to show yourself to Chaeyoung before she dies? As a monster ready to kill her sister?" I asked quietly, hoping to trigger something, anything, within the girl.

It seemed to have worked because all of a sudden, all of her features softened. It was only for a short period of time, but she looked at me with genuine pain and genuine need for love. The anger and instability all came rushing back in a matter of seconds however. She shook her head aggressively as if the physical action would somehow clear her obscure head.

"Move," Mina said again, her voice even darker than before.

I wondered how Tzuyu had done this. I wondered how just earlier, Tzuyu was faced with Mina just like me. She must've been as terrified as I was, facing our sister's lover. I sighed quietly, but made a mental note to quickly tell the others to mention Chaeyoung as much as possible if I was still conscious after this.

"I said, no," I said, firmly this time, not shakiness in my voice. I was going to protect, and Mina would never murder her sister, not today.

Mina came running at me dangerously. I barely managed to dodge out of the way of her fist. I spun around just in time, when I faced her again, I landed a quick hit to her jaw, which really didn't do anything to her...

She came at me again, her fighting more coordinated than mine and obviously better as well. It wasn't like her hunter past had been simply erased from existence and that was very clear here. She hit me, hard, in the stomach causing me to recoil and fall form the pain.

For some reason, Mina hit harder than she usually did.

I tried to readjust myself as quickly as I could to use my own offense, however, Mina was too fast, she was ready again. I rolled out of the way just in time to hear Mina's fist collide with the floor.

I got up, breathing heavy as the fear had settled back in. I knew Mina wouldn't kill me, if she wanted to kill me right now, rather than a hit to my stomach, she could have easily ripped my head off or something. No, Mina needed to kill Sana first.

Her hand raised again to attack me once more, but I felt slightly more ready for it this time. I was recognizing Mina's fighting patterns to be similar to Momo's, probably a hunter thing.

I used that information and this time as Mina's fist came flying towards me, I caught her hand then proceeded to throw her down. It was a moment that I didn't really enjoy, but it caught me a few more seconds to figure out her next move before she got up again.

We fought like this for what sempt like too long for me. I wasn't sure if Mina was holding back because of how I spoke about Chaeyoung, or if she had lost some her fighting capability along with her free will. I knew Mina could beat me in a fight, Sana, Momo and Mina could all beat me, Chaeyoung or Tzuyu in fights, just from their background.

Soon enough, I had enough. The fighting was harsh and my lower lip was bleeding. Mina grabbed me by the collar and slammed me up against the wall, successfully damaging my back.

My vision was blurring slightly with small black dots now floating around as I tried to stay conscious. I had to tell the others about how she changed at the mention of Chaeyoung. I had to stay awake, alive even.

I heard her footsteps move away now that I wasn't moving. I stayed down, hoping that Lisa would be ready for her as I pressed the nicely tucked in earpiece to turn on the signal.

"Tofu speaking here, Chaeyoung, try and talk about Chaeyoung, even if it's for a split second her whole demeanor changes..." I mumbled quietly, hoping the others could even hear me over the ear piece.

"Understood,"

I heard someone say which meant my message go tot someone. I hoped this would be okay. I hoped that we figured a way out of this somehow.

LISA POV:

Mina came quickly and I sort of panicked slightly. I was a hacker and not necessarily a fighter. However, I knew after me was my own girl and I would rather not have her get hurt. Dahyun told us over the earpieces that some mention of Chaeyoung seemed to calm her down to an extent. The girl was glaring at me and honest to god I wished someone were here to help me out. I noticed out of the corner of my eye, thankfully, Jennie, lurking in the shadows of the building, giving me a confidence boost.

"Alright, hello, Mina," I said, clearing my throat, "I get it you're angry and hurt, because Chaeyoung's... Chaeyoung's leaving you again, but we're doing everything to save her and you really aren't doing the most to help us save her you know? Attacking us and all..."

"Save... Chaengie..." Mina said softly, her eyes obviously pained.

It was silent for a moment as she gazed at the ground almost as if she wished to be swallowed up by it. A few painfully slow seconds passed by before her head slowly peered up to look at me. I felt her pain for a moment as I wondered what I would do if it were Rosie about to die for the second time and I couldn't do anything. It hurt me to simply think about it, and for a moment I could understand why Mina would have just given it all up.

"You can't." Mina said, as if it were the truth, and at this point, she wasn't wrong. We couldn't save Chaeyoung, not right now.

She ran at me, and I held my breath for a moment as I prepared to fight back.

"OKAY. HERE I COME KICK IN THE-- DON'T KILL ME!" I yelled as Mina grabbed onto my arm and twisted it behind my back before kicking my legs so that I fell to my knees.

I heard the sound of a gun shot ring, but then for some reason I, yes ME, LALISA, felt excruciating pain shoot up my leg. I looked to see it bleeding and to see Mina, holding Jennie by the throat before throwing her down and zooming off to meet the next barrier. Jennie ran over to me, looking at my leg in shock.

"I was aiming for her leg, but she saw me and literally dodged the bullet, I'm so sorry," Jennie said, using the bottom of her shirt to tie it around the wound to help stop the bleeding. Neither of us knew what to actually do, that was kinda was Rosie was around for.

"She's terrifying, but I saw it..." I said.

"Saw what?" Jennie asked, looking at me concerned.

"She's literally consumed by her own pain," I said, looking back at her defiantly, "I think I know how we can end this."

"Excuse me?" Jennie said, looking intrigued.

"The chemicals Mina took in were meant for a vampire, not a hemaphile, they were meant for Chaeyoung," I said, "Now, I'm not the doctor here, but I think, because it was meant to a vampire and not a hemaphile, it's not working correctly."

"Wait... You're right, hemaphiles have a different structure to their bodies that might cause complications," Jennie said, nodding in agreement.

"Hemaphile already have their natural links to their vampires and therefore adding that extra control would clash with that link," I said.

"Meaning, we just need Mina's genetic link to Chaeyoung to be stronger than the chemicals," Jennie said, "We might get through this."

I had hoped for nothing more than for this to work. Mina was beyond dangerous as of now, but we were sure hoping that Chaeyoung could get through to her. We had real hope.
