Escape
Yukio's POV
When the alarm went off, I paled. Crap!
"Yukio, we need to get you out of here," Shura said, "The alarm's probably your fault." I then spotted an air vent in the ceiling.
"What if I were to hide up there," I said, pointing at the vent, "and follow your location as you walk out?"
"Good idea Four-eyes," she said. I drug a chair over and pried the cover off. Noticing my dilemma of not being able to hoist myself up into the shaft, Shura approached and folded her hands together.
"Step on my hands. I'll give you a boost," she said. Once I was in, she threw a small earpiece up.
"Channel 7," Shura told me. I set the earpiece to the channel, dropping a transmitter down before Shura put the cover back. Collecting it, she powered it on and stuck it in her pocket while returning the chair to its original position.
A knock sounded on the door before I could move.
Rin's POV
I had finished my lessons and was relaxing while reading manga when the floor above mine exploded in blue flames. A few seconds later, Amaimon barreled through the door.
"Brother, I need your help! I stole some of Dad's money to buy candy and he found out! I need you to get me out of here!" he yelled. That's what the explosion was, I thought.
"No. Though I might be interested if some of the candy you buy mysteriously happened to be my favorite kind and somehow appeared in my room," I said.
"Okay, fine. It's a deal. Now help me!" Amaimon sounded like an impatient child. I listened and heard Satan storming down the hall.
"He's coming. In the vent there, now," I told Amaimon, indicating the vent in the ceiling. He floated up, pried the cover off, dove into the A.C. shaft, and replaced the cover in less than two seconds.
Satan then knocked on my door. Calmly, I set my manga down and walked to the door.
"Yes, father?" He seemed taken aback at the fact I called him father. Coming out of the shock, he began to speak.
"Rin, have you seen Amaimon? He may have stolen some money from me," Satan said.
"No, I haven't. Have you checked his room?" I replied, pretending Amaimon wasn't hiding in my vent.
"Okay. I'll do that now," he replied.
Shura's POV
A few four-eyes hid in the vents, someone knocked on the door. I walked over to open in, revealing a hospital security officer.
"May I help you?" I asked.
"Ma'am, miss..." He said, noticing Shiemi and then staring at my chest, " Have you seen Yukio Okumura? He slipped out of his hospital room."
"No we haven't, and staring at my chest won't get you any closer to finding him," I replied. He snapped out of the zone he was in and apologized with a red face before leaving. Once he left, I spoke into the communicator . I
"Four-eyes, you ready?" I asked.
"Yeah. Start walking," came the reply. I did as told, walking into the hall and making a left, walking towards the nurse's station at a slow pace, slow enough for the four-eyed chicken to keep up.
Rin's POV
After Satan left, I told Amaimon to climb up five floors and then follow the arrows above or in front of the "re" and he would get to a roof exit. I had slipped out of the castle multiple times that way, never getting caught. Before he left, I had warned him not to go to his domain since Satan would look for him there.
Amaimon's POV
Rin told me to climb up five floors in these cramped quarters, which was difficult as I had trouble flying through the tunnels. After nearly crashing into the walk for the seventh time, I noticed an arrow pointing to my right. Underneath the carved arrow were the letters "RE", which I took to mean roof exit. I then crawled the direction the arrow pointed, changing direction as instructed by other arrows, and ended up at another vent cover. I punched it out and crawled out.
Crouching down, I picked the cover up and replaced it. I was out of the castle, but the danger had not yet passed. I had to go somewhere to hide.
Ilbis's domain. Who would think an earth demon would go there? I thought and jumped off the castle, flying to safety, only to smack into a person wearing a dark navy blue dress shirt and black slacks, accompanied by black dress shoes.
Navy hair reached mid-chest of the person. Wings kept him in the air, starting as the navy color of his hair at the top and gradually fading to the color of his fire. I gulped and looked up to see Satan, a near identical copy of Rin. The only differences were the constant horns of pure blue fire and the angry gleam in his eyes.
One person you didn't want to end up on the bad side of was Satan. I think I might've migrated to the bad side of him temporarily.
Yukio's POV
I crawled through the vents, barely able to keep up with Shura. She reached the elevator and went down to the ground floor.
"Wait for a few minutes, I need to find a way down," I said through the communicator. After a few minutes of aimlessly crawling around, my phone dinged. I struggled to remove it from my pocket, and the text proved my struggle worth it. Shura had sent me blueprints of the ventilation system. Following them, I managed to get to the first floor and a possible exit.
"Shura, can you meet me at the southeastern side of the hospital? I found a possible getaway," I spoke into the device.
"Yeah, I'll pull my car around. Meet you there in five," she said. Sure enough, I heard a car pull up five minutes later.
"I'm here four-eyes, now pop the cover." While I had been waiting for her, I had managed to turn around and put my feet at the vent. I kicked the cover off and scooted out. All the sudden I was jerked out of the opening and landed rather uncomfortably on my back. Shura replaced the cover before turning to me.
"Run," Shura said, and we booked it to her car, guards noticing us and chasing us. We dove into the car and sped off, successfully getting out of the hospital.
