Chapter Twenty Four
Dee and Remus stayed wrapped in each other's arms, sharing soft kisses and giggling happily until they heard Patton call from downstairs. Remus jumped up, grabbing Dee's hand and pulling him out of the room. "Hey, Re!" Patton said with a smile as he saw his boy coming down the stairs. "Hi, Dad. This is Dee," Remus said, gesturing to the boy next to him. "It's nice to finally meet you, Dee! I'm Patton," Patton said as he held out his hand. Dee shook his hand, smiling up at the man. "It's nice to meet you too. Thank you for letting me come over." Patton had to suppress a smile at the boy's formality. "It's no problem! You're welcome over any time," Patton said. "You two can go back to whatever you were doing, I just wanted to say hi! Are you staying for dinner, Dee?" "I can't today, but thank you," Dee said. "Well, we'll have to have you over for dinner some other time," Patton grinned. Dee nodded with a soft smile. "Have fun, boys," Patton said before turning into the kitchen to see his husband. Remus and Dee made their way back up to Remus' room. Dee looked at his watch and frowned. "I should probably leave pretty soon. My moms wanted me home in time for dinner." Remus nodded. "It's okay. I'll see you tomorrow," Remus grinned. Dee nodded before wrapping his arms around Remus' waist. Remus held the boy close, reveling in the warmth of the moment. "God, I can't believe you're actually mine," Dee said under his breath. Remus' heart swelled when he heard that. "Me neither," he whispered back before kissing the boy lightly on the forehead.
Soon, the boys were forced to pull away. They shared a soft kiss before making their way down the stairs. Remus walked Dee to the door, fussing over him the whole way there. "Are you sure you don't want my Dad to drive you home? I'm sure he wouldn't mind," Remus offered. "I'll be fine. I'm only a few streets away, I can walk," Dee smiled. "Please be safe. I'll see you tomorrow," Remus said with a soft smile. "Bye, Re," Dee said before kissing his cheek lightly. Remus watched the boy go with a wide dopey grin. After shutting the door, Remus turned around to be met with the amused expressions of his fathers. "So...Dee, huh?" Patton asked with a grin. Remus blushed and nodded. "He was a very nice young man," Logan said. Remus nodded with a soft smile. "Did anything...happen, Re?" Patton asked, attempting to hide his smile. Remus nodded again, his smile growing. "He asked me to be his boyfriend," Remus said, he excitement showing through. Neither Patton nor Logan could keep their smiles off of their faces. "That's great, Re!" Patton exclaimed. "You did say yes, correct?" Logan asked. Remus nodded fervently, causing Logan to laugh loudly. "Well we're really happy for you bud. You two are so freaking precious together," Patton cooed. Remus smiled at that.
"Oh! I almost forgot! I got you something today on my way home!" Patton exclaimed as he dug through his bag. "Oh, you didn't have to get me anything," Remus said quickly. Patton grinned at the boy. "I know, but Logan and I decided that we wanted to get it for you." Remus furrowed his brows as Patton handed him a small box. Remus opened the box to find a phone. His eyes widened. "This is too expensive," Remus said worriedly. "Nonsense," Logan said. "After the whole storm incident, Logan and I decided that we wanted to be able to get in contact with you when you're not with one of us," Patton explained. Remus smiled as tears pricked his eyes. "Thank you so much. Nobody has ever gotten me a present before," he admitted. "Well you better get used to it, bud," Patton grinned at the boy's reaction. "I've already put in mine and Logan's numbers, so if you ever need or just want to talk to us, you can." Remus nodded. "And, given recent events, I believe that we will not be the only two that you are contacting," Logan teased, causing Remus to blush. "Thank you again. This really means a lot," Remus said, looking at both of his parents. "It's no problem, kiddo."
Remus soon returned to his room, after thanking his parents a few more times. He set his phone down on his bedside table, smiling at the thought of getting Dee's number tomorrow.
He grabbed his backpack and dug through it, pulling out his math homework. He placed it on his desk and sat down, attempting to complete the problems. After ten minutes of no success, Remus groaned loudly and set down his pencil, running his hand through his curls. Stupid. Remus closed his eyes, attempting to calm his mind enough to keep trying. Another failed attempt made him even more frustrated. Until an idea popped into his head.
Remus picked up his paper and made his way down the stairs, finding Logan reading at the kitchen table while Patton cooked dinner. "Papa?" Remus asked tentatively. Logan looked up at the boy, taking in his slightly disheveled appearance. "Yes darling?" Remus hesitated before asking. "Could you possibly help me with my math homework? I understand if you're too busy," he rushed out, not wanting to upset the man. Logan smiled softly. "Of course. Come here," Logan said as he pulled a chair next to him. Remus sat down, setting his paper in front of the pair. Logan looked over the equations quickly. "Ah, algebra," he said, chuckling as Remus groaned. "Here, let me explain the first problem." Logan explained the steps to complete the first problem, Remus listening attentively and following along as best as he could. As Logan produced the answer, Remus smiled softly and wrote it down. "Now, can you try the next one by yourself?" Logan asked. Remus hesitated before nodding. It took a bit longer, but Remus eventually came up with an answer. Logan looked over his work and smiled widely. "That's correct," he said, his proudness showing through. Remus couldn't help but smile in return. Remus continued to work out each problem, Logan correcting his mistakes and praising him when he found the correct answers.
Patton felt his heart swell as he watched his husband help his son. God, he loved his boys.
