Mark's POV

I had been sitting in this stupid shack for what seemed like hours. When was that fucking rain going to stop!? I groaned and got up to check the shack out. Old books lined built in cabinets and a desk sat against the wall with papers scattered across it. There was also a bed but there was no way I would ever sleep in it. I walked over to the books and pulled one out checking the cover.

How to deal with grief.

I quickly put it back and pulled out a different one.

I went to put it back when something shiny caught my eye. I looked at it closer and realized that it was a button. Don't press random butto - and you pressed it. Ok. I heard a loud click and the bed behind me slid down exposing a large steel cover. That too popped open and exposed a flight of stairs leading to a faint glowing light. I crept over to it and looked down the stairwell.

"I might as well..." I quickly ran over to the desk and grabbed an old flashlight and a rusty pocket knife that was hidden under the papers.

I walked back over to it and started my descent down the stairs. The flashlight dimly lit the walls and flickered every now and again. The faint red glow illuminated the end of the staircase which only propelled me further due to my curiosity. Near the end, I was almost running down the stairs. I felt my foot slide off a step and I tensed up causing me to fall. My arm throbbed due to me landing on it and I stood up with a wince. It wasn't broken but it might be out of the socket.

I peeked around the corner after picking the flashlight back up. A large computer set up sat in front of me and the screens were red with errors.

Well, I found the source of the light.

I walked up to them and saw a large glass window that seemed to have broke at some point. I wiped away some of the dirt and grime from the window and peered inside the room. I saw a large tube with wires and other things jutting out from it. I noticed a door to the right of me and walked over to it. I looked unstable so I tried to kick it down. I caused a large dent but didn't take it down so I grabbed the opening I made and pulled. I felt something about to give to I gave a hard tug and the door slid open.

I wiped my hands on my pants and rubbed my throbbing arm again. The tube sat in the middle of the room and was covered in dust. An outline of a man could be seen from inside so I peered in through a clean spot on the glass. Once again I was met with a startling discovery when I looked in and saw the guy glitching. Spots on his arms and legs were deteriorating and then reforming in little blocks and he had glowing blue and red lines traveling down his exposed limbs and face.

I backed away and spotted a scanner near a latch. I poked it and it beeped laying out a bing after blow letters stated access granted, welcome back...Markiplier! A swooshing sound followed by a puff of smoke blew from the handle as it unlocked. I paused thinking if I wanted to actually wanted to open the tube. Deciding against my better judgment I pulled on the handle and the door opened with a gust of air. The man slumped forward and I caught him, causing a cloud of pixels to fly everywhere.

r€n€w@| .........All systems o-on line. Slight voice m-malfunctions detected. A-attempting voice reboot.....R-reboot failed. Attempting second voice r-reboot.... Reboot successful." He was still using me to keep himself steady.

"Hello, Sir. My name is Glitch." I nodded.

"Hello to you too, my name's Mark." He tried standing but failed.

He looked terrified.

"Detecting Dark energy nearby....scanning...." He looked dead at me.

"Dark energy detected." Before I could say anything he jabbed his pixelated hand into my chest.

I expected to feel pain but only a numb sensation traveled through my body. He slowly removed his hand, holding onto a black and pink ball of light.

"All negative energies must be contained in N.E.D" I looked at him confused as he turned around and flicked the ball into the tube behind him.

The door instantly closed and the scanner beeped signaling that it was locked. I blinked and looked at it and without warning, it flashed and a black outline of a man floated inside the tube.

"Scanning negative energy for signs of life." Light shot from his eyes and probed the outline.

"Scan complete. Signs of life detected, hibernation hours until recovery approximately. . . .2 days. Subject shows to have amazing healing abilities which are amplified by the mindscape."

"Can you tell me who it is?" He looked back at the figure.

"It appears to be someone by the name of Darkiplier. But I have no other record of him besides his name." He looked at me, " I presume from the look on your face that this is a shock to you, can I ask why?"

"He died from some sort of weird disease. I watched him die!" Glitch shrugged.

"My scans did not find any illness that could be life-threatening. I will do more research once his body has returned fully." Glitch glanced around and paused.

"Two more life forms detected on the surface. Determining who." His lines glowed for a moment.

"One goes by Googleplier, the other is called Sean William Mc-"

"Jacks here! How!?" I bolted up the stairs with Glitch right behind me.

I reached the top but Glitch grabbed my arm and hushed me. I tried to wiggle away but he held on tightly.

"Listen!" I stopped struggling and listened.

"Is this the place Google?" Jack...

"My scans have confirmed that Mark is inside, but now there is someone else with him. Do you want me to get him?" He sounded robotic.

"I'll go too."

"Ok, Jack."

I turned to Glitch, "What was so important that I had to listen for?"

"I wanted to confirm that it was them. My thermal scanners have been in need of upgrading for quite some time now. It was only for your safety. Your safety is my main concern. Soon followed by my ultimate objective which is to be of service for the greater good of humanity. Please do forgive me."  I rolled my eyes and smiled, patting him on his back.

"It's fine Glitch. Really." He smiled slightly "and thanks for telling me about Dark. I thought he was gone for good." He smiled wider and gave a thumbs up.

"I'm glad I could have been of service." I nodded and jumped the last few steps and went up to the door.

I looked behind me and saw he was still standing there. I gave him a look.

"Why aren't you coming?" He looked down.

"If I go near Google, I won't be able to control what happens. I was the first but I was a  glitch so they got rid of me and gave you the idea of Google IRL." I frowned.

"I'm sorry Glitch I-" he smiled and waved it off.

"It's fine Mark, you had little chance of not succumbing to their persuasion techniques." He stuck out his hand.

"As far as I know from the previous scans you will be here for awhile, correct?" I nodded "Well I will see you soon my friend" he waved and walked back downstairs.

I smiled and flung open the door to walk, er, out on Jack being kissed by Google. Which was extremely awkward with Google looking like me and all. Jack looked at me wide eyed and struggled away from him.

"Mark!" He smiled sheepishly while blushing.

"Um, hey Jack! Um, what are you doing back here so soon?"

He cleared his throat, "I actually wanted to ask if you wanted us to make a video about the situation." I paused.

"I don't know...I don't want to worry anyone, but at the same time they deserve to know." I sighed and hung my head while I scratched my neck.

"I guess, how long has it been?" He looked at Google.

"It is approximately 14:39 Outside. A day has passed since you first met me." He nodded.

"About three days then." I nodded.

"Yeah go ahead. But just give the basics ok?" He nodded.

"Of course. After we're done I'll come and we can hang out. Do you know when you can wake up?" I shook my head no.

"I have no clue...Google can you tell?"

"From what I gather it can be a month to a year." My mouth dropped.

"What!?"

"I mean at least we have numbers right?" I looked at Jack.

"I suppose... Anyway, I'll see you later." He nodded and disappeared after a few seconds.

I was left alone with Mr. Tall, Dark, and Smart.

"So are you and Jack a thing now?" He just shook his head.

"No. I merely was seeing what he meant when he said he wanted to kiss someone." I gave him a questionable look.

"Signe?"

"Negative, Signe has updated her profile to single on all of her social medias and she has un-friended you and Jack as well." I stared at him.

"Why?" He glitched and smoke bellowed from his neck.

"Uh oh..." He flopped over and I groaned.

Fuck my life.
