"I'm sorry, Y/N, but I'm actually going out with someone else."
The words pierced your heart as you looked up at your crush. His eyes slowly drifted from yours in a guilt stricken way and you could tell that he hadn't wanted to hurt you.
He hadn't hurt you. He was allowed to like and not like whoever he wanted to, but it didn't mean that the rejection didn't sting.
Your trembling hands slowly slipped on the red letter in your hand as you tried your best to keep up a smile.
"That's...fine." You shakily replied, wishing for him to just leave so you could bawl your hurt out. You could see how uncomfortable he felt and you didn't want him there any longer. Turning back to glance at you, the older boy's lipped curled into a small frown. He had no clue what to say or what to do, so he simply stood like a statue in your presence.
Sensing his hesitation, you softly told him, "Its ok, you can go now."
Sending you one last tight lipped smile and a last glance, the blonde boy slowly turned from you and walked back to the school grounds where his other friends were waiting for him.
His new girlfriend would be there too.
Your hand slowly softened it's grip on the letter in your hand as you watched him, and after a while the small paper envelope was released from it's grasp and was caught by the wind. You didn't mind, for your eyes were too set on the blonde boy you had once adored – your first love, as he kissed and hugged another girl.
As if caught in time while watching them, your body didn't move. It didn't feel. It just stood there, numb and broken as the display of love from your two classmates ensued from across the field.
You felt so distant from reality that you didn't even notice the streams of salty, rejected water streaming from your eyes. With one last glance at your past love, you turned back to the school building and wiped the tear stains from your cheeks, signifying that it was time for you to move on.
Now, the letter of yours?
Well, it went on a long journey.
See, as it dropped from your hand, the wind brought it along, high above the school building and over the boys smoking cigarettes on the rooftop and then it slowly spiraled like it was caught into a tornado down the side of the school building. When the breeze suddenly dropped, the letter fell to the concrete floor outside the building and was trampled upon by a mass of careless high school students leaving for the day.
With all the mass of footsteps shoving it around, the letter suddenly was hustled over the basketball court where the class athlete noticed it on the ground. He laughed to his friends about using it instead of the basketball as he crushed it into a ball and threw it into the high metal ring. When it came down it landed on the footpath beside the ball court and was blown away by the lawn blower the janitor was using.
Flying through the air at a fast speed the paper was catapulted into the open door of the school building and unto the floor, where it was noticed by a young girl. She picked it up and flattened it up to inspect it.
"Y/N?" She snorted. "Who is she?"
Her boyfriend shrugged. "A loner, obviously."
The two of them laughed as she dropped the note unto the ground again, where it was seen by a quiet kid. He picked it up and saw that it was addressed to no one. Upon looking at where it had been, he noticed that there had been an open locker beside it. Not wanting the sender to be heartbroken by the fact that their lover never got the letter, the boy carefully placed the letter into the locker and shut the door.
And it was then that your valentine's fate was sealed.

Min Yoongi slowly trudged down the hallway with his friends by his side, smelling of cigarettes that only they had smoked. His lips were sealed shut and between them lay the white, plastic stick from a lollipop, which he chewed continuously on his journey to quit smoking.
His friends bantered about some unimportant matters beside him as he made his way to the locker to get his bag and leave school for the day. Their conversations revolved around mostly women and video games, and though Yoongi liked both, he couldn't stand to hear any more of it.
"Did you see her ass, man? I just wanna-"
"Kyle, can we just stop talking like that?" Yoongi snapped back, tired of the objectifying talk.
Kyle, his friend, scoffed. "You're just being a sour fuck because you can't get a girl." Yoongi's other friend laughed from beside him.
"No, I'm just tired of talking about women's asses." Yoongi responded, "Don't you think there's more to a woman than her ass and boobs?"
"Her face?" The two boys beside him burst into loud chortles of laughter as Yoongi sighed and rolled his eyes, his hand reaching for the handle of his locker. Why am I even friends with these two? He wondered. He wished for a friendship – or at least some form of companionship that was much more fulfilling than these two.
"I think those cigarettes are doing something to your brain cells, Kyle." Yoongi retorted back, pulling back the handle of the locker. To his horror, out flew a small, red letter. He stepped back from it quickly as if it were a snake coming to bite him, his eyes widening as the small object landed flat on the ground below him.
Upon realizing what it was from the small red love hearts posted upon it, his friends laughed in unison. "Aww, how cute! Yoongi has a secret lover!"
Yoongi could barely believe his eyes, and neither could his cheeks as they filled with a rosy color. Someone had sent him a Valentine's Day card?! He had never received one before, ever.
With cautious hands, the boy stooped down and picked the card up from the ground, holding it as if it were a dirty diaper as he brought it back up to standing height. Weirdly enough, for something that had been put straight in his locker by someone, it looked pretty dirty and crumpled. Had someone hesitated before putting it in there?
Using both his thumbs and index fingers, he carefully drew the crumpled paper apart and looked through it in order to read the name of the sender. Surely, anyone who had sent him a Valentine's Day card would be crazy. Who would like him, anyway?
He was a party pooper; A sarcastic and blunt person who had literally no soul. Who was interested in that?
The words scrawled in pretty pink glittery ink stared up at him, and he began to read them aloud.
"I love the way you smile. I love the way you speak. I could listen to your honey like voice all week. You make me smile. You make me laugh. Perhaps our fates have been entwined. Would you please be my valentine? Love, Y/N." Yoongi read; his ears and his neck coating in the same color as the card the further he went on.
"Cringe." Kyle laughed, and the other boy laughed along with him. "Someone needs to give up their poetic license."
Yoongi could only stare at the small note in his hands. Y/N?! Wasn't she the girl who sat beside him in class?! She liked him?! He had barely even spoken to her! He could only remember once, and that was when she offered him a drink because she had received a second one free!
He couldn't deny the fact that he'd found her very attractive, beautiful even. She had the most memorable laugh and it caused him to smile widely whenever he heard it. She was smart and hardworking, and even helped others with their school work. She was kind and cheerful with everyone, even him.
How could someone like that like him?!
His eyes read over the letter again, thinking that there must be some mistake, but there was not. It was a valentine's letter, and it was in his locker!
"Are you blushing, Yoongs?" Kyle asked as he gazed over at his friend, shocked at the elder boy's reaction.
Yoongi scoffed, pretending to be engrossed in the card he was reading and holding it up to cover his burning cheeks. "Blushing?!" He laughed, trying to ignore the red hue upon his cheeks. "No way! Why would I be blushing?!"
Kyle and his friend exchanged a confused look between each other, wondering what had happened to their emotionless friend. Trying not to seem too suspicious, Yoongi stuffed the letter back into his locker and began walking away, ushering for them to follow him. While they walked in front of him, Yoongi sent a glance back to the locker.

It was an odd occurrence to see Yoongi do anything but sleep. There was one time you had given him a drink you'd got for free and he'd thanked you, and that was the most you'd ever seen or heard him do, So you were most certainly confused when you saw Yoongi beside you, scribbling away at his schoolwork with shaking hands and a nervous posture. The moment your leg accidentally brushed his, he jumped so high from the chair he almost flew out the window beside you.
He seemed so on edge. It was totally unlike the boy, who was usually so nonchalant and uncaring.
Hoping to see what the matter was with him, you spoke up. "Um, Yoongi?"
His head whipped around to yours in an instant, his eyes widening. "I wasn't thinking about you!"
You stood still for a moment, as did Yoongi. You looked into his wide brown eyes that seemed as if they'd just noticed their mistake. "What?"
He quickly turned back to his schoolwork, relying on his longer hair to flop over his embarrassed face. "Nothing."
Weird.

"Mr Knickerbocker, here's my work." You handed your assignment to the older man who smiled upon taking it. "Thank you, Y/N. Just on time." He said, kindly.
You smiled back at him, but you couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching you from outside the empty classroom. Slowly, you took a quick look around the room to see if your instincts were right. It was then that you noticed the blonde headed boy watching you from the window in the hallway.
When your eyes met his, he immediately whipped his head around and hastened his steps, speeding past the opened door of the classroom.
Weird.

"Hey ugly! What have you got there?!" The school's bully approached you one day, yanking your math book from your arms. They pulled it over your head and so you were unable to get it back.
"Give it back, please!" You asked nicely, but the bully only laughed.
"Nope, I think I might just keep it!" He snickered, still holding the book just out of your reach.
In your attempt to reach the book, you didn't notice the large, orange basketball flying towards the bully's face. It knocked him back, causing him to lay sprawled across the ground. Surprised by the sudden interference, you whipped your head around to where the ball had come from.
Across the hall, directly in the area from where the ball had been thrown, was the blonde headed delinquent, frowning at the teen sprawled below you. He strolled towards the boy, reaching down to grab the math books out of his hands and giving it to you.
"Here." His eyes avoided yours.
You took it back from him with a curious expression before looking down at the boy on the ground. "You're going to get suspended for that." You commented.
The blonde shrugged, following your gaze to the unconscious teen. "No biggie."

Another weird occurrence happened the day just before Valentine's. A friend of Yoongi's – known by the name Kyle – approached you and handed you a small, strawberry flavored lollipop. When you asked him about it, the boy simply shrugged it off, telling you that Yoongi (who had been suspended a few days beforehand,) had told him to give it to you because he'd gotten a 'buy one, get one free' discount.
Twirling the plastic stick of the lollipop around in your fingers and inspecting the pink wrapping on top of it, you smiled.

Throughout the whole of Valentine's Day in school, you'd watched as couples gave each other chocolates and flowers and bears and you felt the loneliness creep in. The 'if only's' began to wander around in your mind like a plastic bag rolling about the street. If only your crush hadn't been with another girl. If only you had someone like everyone else did.
You tried to brush the thoughts out of your head as much as you could, attempting to focus on your schoolwork.
When school ended for the day, it began to rain. With no umbrella, you were forced to hold your books under your shirt in an attempt to shield them from the droplets. While your other classmates all shared an umbrella with their valentines, you were left out, walking alone out of the school building and into the rain.
You began to feel miserable as you approached the school gates with your head low and your eyes searching the wet concrete. It was then; all of the sudden, that you noticed no more droplets had landed on you. The rain hadn't stopped, but you couldn't feel any of it. Weirded out, you looked up, only to be met with the shy, tight lipped smile of the blonde headed boy as he held an umbrella above your head.
Your eyes questioned his every move as he attempted to put his thoughts into words.
"I know it's probably a bit late," he began, turning his eyes towards the ground, "But I accept your offer to be your valentine." He looked up quickly to check your reaction before his gaze fell to the ground again. "I'd like to get to know you better."
Confused, you asked, "My offer?"
His eyes quickly rose and searched yours at your query. When he realized you really had no clue what he was talking about, he placed his hand unto the pocket of his jeans, fishing out the letter you were supposed to give your crush a week or so before.
He handed it out for you, and you took it with shaking hands, searching over the pink writing with perplexed eyes.
"You put it in my locker." Yoongi reminded you shyly, his eyes now looking towards yours for an answer. "I know I didn't bring any nice gifts, but an umbrella is pretty good for now, right?" He laughed nervously.
Your eyes flickered towards his and back to the letter, and you wondered how it had ever made its way into his locker. Though your mouth wanted to tell him the truth - that you'd dropped it after being rejected by your crush - you held it back and sent him a wide smile.
"Yeah, let's get to know each other better."
His once shy and unsure eyes brightened and his lips curled back into a grin that matched yours. "Do you want to hang out somewhere?" he asked, giggling, "Like out of the rain?"
A chuckle poured it's way out of your throat.
"Sure."
