Min Yoongi had had a crush on Aurѐlie for a long, long time. They had first met when he was a young boy. When she first saw him, she took one look at his face and called him a cat. Yoongi wasn't sure if he was shocked or disgusted at that moment. Either way, as she lived in the house beside his, he saw her very often.
Min Yoongi unfortunately had been to shy at the time to talk to the girl. He watched as she played with her friends from his bedroom window and wished that he too could join her, but he couldn't. Something inside his mind forbid him from doing so.
Sometimes she would visit to see his family, and the only word he ever managed to utter was a simple, "Hello." It always sounded so wrong...so terribly mean.
His family had always told him he was so uptight; that he looked like an old man who had seen it all. He was stone cold, but underneath all of the limestone protecting him was his frail heart, waiting to be loved. It was never going to be loved however, when the girl he wanted to love it was looking at him as if he were the nastiest man on earth.
So he tried to forget about her, and as the years passed into the shadows, so did he.

Now, around high school, Aurѐlie's parents persuaded Yoongi's parents to send him to the same school as the girl. Aurѐlie wasn't sure she liked the idea. Yoongi had been all but friendly for most of her life. He was incredibly reserved and refused to talk more than one word to her. What would be the point of sending him to school with her? He didn't even like her anyway.

The first day of high school with Yoongi was awful. Yoongi had been forced by his parents to drive her to the school and he'd reluctantly done so. The car ride had been awfully quiet and no matter what Aurѐlie did to try and ease the silence, Yoongi stood cold still like a statue, his eyes not leaving the road.
When they arrived and he got out of the car, he was quick to open her door. Aurѐlie couldn't help but find that extremely odd and out of character. Perhaps he was just trying to impress her so she wouldn't tell her parents about the awful car trip.
In class, when Yoongi was introduced rather quietly to the class, there seemed to be quite the fuss over him. Girls whispered and giggled about how cute he was and boys hollered about his cool accessories, like the chain he had around his neck. Aurѐlie was shocked by his warm welcome – something she definitely didn't receive on her first day.

Of course, because it was her life, Yoongi just had to sit beside her, at her desk. He didn't speak, nor did he even look at her, not even a glance.
The weird thing was however, that whenever Aurѐlie was in need of a pencil, he'd be quick to give her one silently. If she needed paper or anything else, he'd hand it to her without even so much as a peripheral look her way. He somehow seemed to know what she needed at the right time and wasn't worried about giving it to her.
As the days grew into weeks and the weeks into months, Aurѐlie began to see a side of Yoongi she hadn't noticed as a child. While he'd barely spoken to her since moving into her school, he'd done all he could to help her – even going so far as to leave meals at their desk for her.
All while this was happening, Yoongi's popularity grew. He joined the basketball team and became the crush of every girl in class. People flocked around him during breaks in such large bunches it was hard to see him through the crowd. Aurѐlie even had some of her own friends ask her if she thought he was handsome.
She couldn't deny that the raven haired teen, with his porcelain skin and his sharp dark eyes was quite the masterpiece. And as she began to realise that, her heart began to thump in her chest when he was around. Her face grew red when he handed her a pencil. The slightest look her way from him had her reeling in joy.
She had a crush on the cold, stony, boy from next door.
The sad thing was, there was no way he liked her. In fact, he didn't like anybody. But there was no harm in confessing, right? The worst he could say was no.
So she had to find a way to talk to him.
One day – which just so happened to be Valentine's - just after the class stopped for recess, Aurѐlie suddenly grabbed Yoongi's arm and dragged him out of the classroom and into the toilet before anyone else had the chance to speak to him.
Surprised by his crush's sudden act, Yoongi tried to act cool and calm, but how could he when they were literally in a toilet stall together?! Aurѐlie was looking up at him with her big eyes and the sight sent him into overdrive. His mind was trying to think of something to say but the only thing it could muster were quiet 'uhhs' and 'umms'.
His breath caught in his throat as she stood there, in front of him, just in his reach but out of his grasp. A mouthful of saliva made its way down his throat in a large gulp as he felt the softness of her hand in his.
His mind was a state of mess as her lips parted in preparation to speak.
He watched as she shut her eyes, as if she was afraid of his reaction. And then, out came the diarrhea...
Of words.
"Will you please be my - my please be my Valentine?" The girl stuttered, looking down at the ground and holding her hands behind her back in a tight grasp.
Yoongi had no ability for his mind to function. It had become mush and all he could hear was the screaming of the limestone around his heart. Without thinking, his mouth had repeated its words,
"I can't!" Horrified by what he'd said, and knowing he had just thrown any chance of being with the girl out the window, Yoongi placed his hand over his mouth. It was almost as if he believed by doing so he'd be able to take back what he'd said.
Judging by the sorrowful eyes that looked up into his, he knew he couldn't take it back.
Yoongi tried to apologise, he tried to explain what went wrong, but the signals would not send the message to his mouth.
He watched as the horrified girl stumbled out the toilet stall door, and he put his head in his hands. So many years he'd waited for this day to come, and he'd blown it.

Aurѐlie didn't see Yoongi for the rest of the day. She was glad she didn't see him. She couldn't imagine facing him after embarrassingly asking him to have Valentine's with her.
As class ended and gift boxes of toys and chocolates were handed out between couples and crushes, Aurѐlie rushed away to her house. It took a while to get there, but when she did, she immediately ran inside and locked the doors; running up to her bed and collapsing in a sad little heap on top of it.
She was glad her parents weren't home; otherwise they'd expect her to explain what was wrong. She couldn't tell them that she liked the boy next door; the boy who didn't seem to like her back.
Sending one last glance over to the beautiful boy's house, Aurѐlie fell asleep.
She was awoken by the sound of knocking on her window, not long after. Night had fallen and it was difficult to see who the intruder was. She assumed it was a bird or something like that, so she opened her window.
To her utter surprise, out on the tree branch just beside her bedroom window was her neighbour, hanging on for dear life on the branch he sat on. It felt almost as if it was a dream and Aurѐlie couldn't help but rub her eyes to test if it were.
Sure enough, after rubbing her eyes, she could still see the frightened face of Min Yoongi as he looked down at the distance to the ground, holding between his lips a small packet of chocolates and a flower. When his eyes glanced up to meet hers, she could see an apology pouring out of them.
He swiftly pulled himself closer to her window on the tree branch, silently reaching with a shaky hand to grab the flower and chocolates from out of his mouth and hand them to her.
"Min Yoongi?" She couldn't help but question as she took them from his hand, watching as he quickly put his empty hand back on the branch again to steady himself.
"What are you doing there?! I didn't even know you could climb trees!"
"I-I-I can't." Yoongi stuttered as he looked at her, clawing unto the tree. "Y-your doors were locked." He titled his head with a pleading look. "Can I come in?"
She nodded, moving out of the way for her neighbour to quickly send himself through the window. When he had regained somewhat of a relaxed posture, she held up the chocolates and flower for him to see.
"What does this mean?" Perhaps she should already know, but she needed his confirmation after what had happened earlier.
He looked from the gifts to her face and then to the ground, before finally looking up to meet her face again. He breathed out in an attempt to calm himself. "It m-means I like you." He responded.
Aurѐlie frowned, taking another glance at the gifts. "But I though-"
"I was nervous." Yoongi explained, his hand reaching up to scratch his neck. "I didn't know what to say."
Aurѐlie hummed in understanding before looking out the window to the bottom of the tree. "That was a big climb."
"It was a one off thing." Yoongi blurted, and Aurѐlie giggled, feeling elated that he actually liked her.
"You really are a cat." Aurѐlie remarked looking towards him, and Yoongi frowned, watching as she came closer to him. It was then that he realised the inevitable was going to happen, and he wasn't even prepared for it.
Had he even brushed his teeth that morning?!
Her soft, delicate lips made their way up to his, stopping in order to wait for his to reciprocate the gesture. His heart beat out of his chest and his breathing began to increase as he forced himself to lower his head and connect their lips.
He'd never believed in fairy tales and true love kisses but the kiss he was getting from Aurѐlie made him feel like he was floating on a cloud, and made him wonder whether whoever came up with such nonsense was actually right.
Because, to him, their kiss felt so right.
So much like true love.
(I'm absolutely awful at writing kiss scenes-)
