How long have I been on this stupid road for? Sherly questioned herself as she drove along the desert plains. She was sure she'd been driving the road for hours, as if the car were on some sort of spinning wheel turning around a western themed background and going nowhere.
The heat was almost unbearable, and since the air conditioner had lost its ability to work a while back, she had to cool down the old fashioned way – by winding down the windows. And by winding down the windows, she could hear the faint squealing sound of something slowly breaking inside of her car.
The hot, dry air whipped at her face and played with the strings of her hair. She knew that when she got out of the car it would look like some bird nest, but it was better than having the windows up, she supposed.
Before long the sun had set amongst the horizon and much to Sherly's displeasure, her car had not left the cracked desert roads. Dusk turned into nightfall and nightfall turned into midnight - things began to get worse when the car's gas decreased with every passing hour, and with no gas station for miles, Sherly was practically stuffed.
It didn't take long for the car to suck the last drop of its remaining fuel, and as it did so it came to a stop by the side of the road. Frustrated and unsure of what to do, Sherly could only rest her head on the steering wheel in despair. On one side of the car was the desolate road, and Sherly was sure that she wouldn't see another car on it for hours to come. If she did, it would most likely pass her by.
On the other side of the car was the dry, cactus filled desert. She could hear the far off sounds of coyotes howling to each other. There was no way she was heading out there so late at night. Sighing, Sherly reached up to her sunshade and pulled it down, picking out the small envelope from her Aunt, whom she was supposed to be visiting.
It seemed as if she wouldn't be able to, at this rate, even after all that driving from the city.
Shoving it back into the sunshade and flipping it back toward the roof. She was going to be stuck there all night, and as she could remember from living there as a child, the days were hot and the nights were freezing. With no jumpers or longer clothing in the car she was going to turn into an ice block.
Perhaps, she thought, the reception would work. Her hand grasped for her small iPhone in the console of the car, and much to her surprise, when she opened the screen she found that she had reception...though very little.
Was there anyone who could help her out? She wondered. She searched through her contacts, trying to recall who lived in this area and who had moved away – like her – over the years. It was then, at the very bottom of her contacts was a name she hadn't heard nor seen in a very long time. Jeon Jungkook.
It was as if once her eyes met the letters on the screen her mind flew back in time.
Sherly searched around the graveyard the two had visited with a small flashlight, searching for the boy who'd left her alone. She had no doubt he was planning to jump scare her somewhere.
"Jeon Jungkook! You stupid, insufferable-"
The boy popped up from behind a tombstone with a grin. "Handsome, gorgeous and charismatic man?"
With a scream, Sherly fell back, stumbling unto the soft grass beneath her. Huffing, she sent a glare to Jungkook's smirking face and pulled herself up from the ground. Dusting herself off, she growled to the boy, sending a punch towards his face which he luckily dodged.
"Hey! There's no need to get violent!" Jungkook laughed as he shielded his face from yet another punch. Sherly let out a fierce growl to the boy as she pushed past him, finishing the walk through the graveyard.
Giggling, Jungkook struggled to keep up with her long and determined strides. "It was you that said you weren't going to be scared here." He smirked slyly, "But hey, no need to pretend. If you're scared, you can just hold my-" Jungkook was stopped by an abrupt slap with the flashlight on his shoulder.
Sherly was heaving in rage, her eyes narrowing into his brown ones. "I will never hold your hand, Jeon Jungkook!" She declared curtly, before stomping off.
Staring at the line of numbers displayed out on the screen, Sherly briefly cringed. She had been so glad when she had moved away, and there was no need to see him anymore. Upon hearing about her departure, however, Jungkook seemed a little sad. It weirded Sherly out, but she assumed maybe he was just going to miss annoying the life out of her.
On the day she left town, she was surprised to find the boy running towards her with such stamina she thought he was going to barrel her over. Luckily he had stopped, panting for breath, and began quickly rambling on about his number so they could stay in contact.
He forced her to put it into her contacts and told her to message him as soon as she got to her new house.
She never did.
As the years passed, along with the school, college, and work days, Jungkook became a distant memory.
She was unsure of how he would feel about the sudden call – and wondered whether he was even still living in the area, but there was only way to find out about that.
Not allowing herself to think about it further, she quickly pressed the call button on the number and watched as it began to dial. Watching as the small little dots appeared on the screen, she searched her mind for anything to say to him.
'Hey. It's been a while?' or 'Sorry I forgot to message you'? 'Nice to talk to you again'? Sherly fussed over something to say to him, and didn't have much time before he answered. She stayed still and quiet as he spoke over the speaker.
"Hello, you grab them we stab them, how can I help you?" Came a dark, masculine voice over the phone. While the voice was a lot darker and huskier than she remembered Jungkook's being – most likely due to the fact that he hadn't reached puberty at the time – she could tell that this man was definitely Jungkook.
"Jungkook?"
"Who's asking?"
"It's um..." Sherly stuttered, "Sherly. Sherly Holmes."
There was a silence on the line, something bordering on hesitation, before he answered.
"Oh! Sherls! What a strange occurrence!"
"Yeah, I forgot to message you-"
"Yeah, No shit Sherlock!" He laughed, before continuing, "Anyway, what's cooking?"
Sherly bit her lip. "I'm kind of in a pickle-"
"Oh yeah? What about?"
"My car is out of fuel and on the side of the road...not far from your house. If you still live there, that is."
"Oh, that sounds fun." Jungkook commented on the other line, "Why are you all the way out here?"
"Visiting family." Sherly curtly answered.
"Welp, looks like you're pretty stuffed now, huh?"
Tired of the beating around the bush and knowing Jungkook wasn't going to openly offer help, Sherly got down to the point. "I uh, could you help me? I'd be happy to pay."
There was silence on the line.
"Sure, and no payment needed. Tae and I'll be on our way in a jiffy."
"Wait," Sherly stopped him, recognizing the name. "Tae? As in Kim Taehyung?"
"The one and only."
"You're with him at the moment?" Sherly was shocked. Kim Taehyung was known as the quietest boy in town. He never had much to say, but he always had a glare to give. There were rumours about him being deaf or secretly evil, but Sherly never really listened. She barely even knew the guy.
But him and the outgoing Jungkook? They were in cahoots with each other?!
Jungkook seemed to sense her silence. "You just sit there for a bit and we'll be out." He told her, and not long after, he hung up.

Sherly knew it was Jungkook when she saw the red, pickup truck pull up behind her. Firstly, because there hadn't been a single car on the road since midday, and secondly, because she recognized the car as Jungkook's father's car.
She stayed in the car however, unsure of how to greet him. She wondered what the acne covered, mop haired boy had become. It wasn't long until she got her answer, for in front of her window was a tap. A rather blank yet handsome face faced her, and she was amazed by his beauty.
Immediately, she rolled the window down.
"Jungkook?!" She asked. There was no way. The man in front of her seemed a lot more refined - a lot less of an airhead.
"I'm Taehyung." The man in front of her deadpanned, barely even blinking an eye.
"Oh," Sherly said coyly, "Nice to see you again." She sent him a smile, but was met by nothing more than an emotionless response. Embarrassed, she quickly opened the door and hopped out, only to accidentally slip on the uneven ground below and fall straight into Taehyung.
Taehyung was knocked off his feet instantly, falling – quite luckily – unto the rough grass beside the car. Sherly became highly embarrassed when she noticed that she was on top of the poor man's chest, with her face incredibly close to his. With the moonlight shining down on his chiselled and dark features, Sherly couldn't deny the fact that the emotionless man was rather gorgeous.
The moment was ruined however when Taehyung quickly pushed her up and off him, allowing her to stand on her own two feet again. He didn't look too pleased with the circumstance they had found themselves in as he pulled himself up.
"Wow!" A voice sounded from behind. "A couple minutes in and everybody is getting to know each other again so quickly!" Both Taehyung and Sherly quickly looked toward the voice, only to see Jungkook.
It goes without saying that he had changed a lot. Not only in build and height, but his hair was literally coloured! The fluffy half red half blonde mop lay on his head in a stylish design, totally different from the natural black hair that used to limply spread towards his shoulders.
Sherly hadn't expected them to become so attractive.

"So," Jungkook began as they sat in the front seat of his pickup truck, with Sherly in the middle of both the men, feeling rather squished. Jungkook started the car, grinning at her as if she wasn't literally a sardine in a can at that moment.
Taehyung looked utterly disgusted with touching her, trying his best to stay as close to the door as possible. Jungkook on the other hand, well...It felt as if he was purposely pushing her towards Tae.
How had she gotten in this situation?
Well, it seemed that not only had the gas gone out, but there was something else wrong with the car that was chewing copious amounts of fuel. Jungkook assured Sherly that even if he were to lend her some fuel right at that moment, it wouldn't take her very far.
He told her that he'd pick the car up the next morning and Taehyung, who was now apparently a mechanic, could look at it.
Unfortunately, Sherly wouldn't be able to stay for the night in the car. She was freezing, and it would only get colder. With no hotels or stay – ins for miles, Sherly found herself heading back to Jungkook and Tae's place, stuck between them in the car.

The three walked inside of Jungkook's parent's old house, and Sherly instantly felt a wave of nostalgia wash over her as she entered – minus the mess.
"Sorry, we're doing renovations at the moment." Jungkook told her. "We had to get the wallpaper stripped and stuff. It was all rotting."
Stepping over the thousands of paint cans and other random objects, Sherly let out a small hum of understanding. Jungkook ushered for her to sit down at the dining table as he walked into the kitchen to make some beverages. Taehyung had pretty much avoided any contact with her and quickly made a beeline up the stairs. Jungkook and her watched him go, and Jungkook let out a snort.
"He hasn't changed much, has he?" Sherly asked.
"Not at all." Jungkook responded, "He's pretty cold on the outside, but once you get to know him, he's like a big teddy bear." He stopped, staring Sherly straight in the face with a look that read trauma, "I mean literally. He hugs the shit out of me sometimes."
Sherly laughed, though she wasn't sure she could imagine Taehyung ever being like that.
"So, whatya been up to? How's city life going?" Jungkook asked, placing some cups on the kitchen counter and pouring kettle water into them.
Sherly shrugged. "It's been busy, but not as great as what I thought it would be."
Jungkook hummed but didn't say anything more. He stirred some mixture into the cups and then brought them down to the table.
He smiled at Sherly. "Hot chocolate, your favourite."
Sherly frowned. "It used to be, but I'm more of a coffee person now."
Jungkook's smile quickly dropped into a disappointed frown. "Of course you are." With a loud huff, he walked up to the kitchen and poured one of the mugs of chocolate down the sink, placing it back on the bench to be refiled with coffee.

"Well," Said Jungkook in a pink, bunny covered pair of pyjamas, "My shower is done, so feel free to go for one."
"I have no clothes."
Jungkook shrugged. "I can lend you some."
Reluctantly, Sherly was practically dragged to a cupboard and given a towel and a pair of blue pyjamas with a several little heart headed people on it. The striped design matched Jungkook's.
The red and blonde headed man pushed her towards the bathroom and suggested she get to showering as he let her know about the many malfunctions and rules in the bathroom.
Just this once, Sherly listened to him, and she was glad she did. A hot shower had done wonders for her; washing away the worry and annoyance from the previous day and replacing it with comfort.
After wiping herself dry with the towel, Sherly donned the pair of pyjamas. They were pretty large on her frame, especially the pants, which hung loosely on her hips. They hung so loose that with a little bit of movement, she would be clean of them.
Annoyed, she decided to leave the pants and just wear the long sleeved button up shirt as a nightie. It was long and fell to her knees so it wouldn't be a huge problem.
She walked out of the bathroom and down the stairs to join Jungkook again, only to find him and Taehyung together. Taehyung looked cranky, as always, as he looked towards Jungkook.
"Where's my pyjamas?!" He asked the two toned haired man, "I've been looking for them for ages!"
As Jungkook's eyes looked towards Sherly's arriving ones, Taehyung followed his gaze.
And his jaw dropped.
Ok Sherly, so -
Team Jungkook
or
Team Taehyung?
Part 2 up soon
