the Schuyler sisters
(John P.O.V)
I watched as Peggy texted, smiling.
"Who you texting?" I asked, leaning over.
"Alexander Hamilton." She said flatly.
I looked at her, not ready to throw away the possibility; her sister went to King's College as well, and Peggy had lived in New York before coming here.
"Really?"
"No silly." She punched my arm lightly. "I was talking with Theo."
"Theo?" I asked; who was Theo?
"My sister's roommate."
"Which one?" Both her sisters were staying in dorms, it could be either.
"Angie."
"What does this Theo have to say?"
"Angie's scheduling for the Schuyler sisters to meet over Christmas, says she's bringing her friend." She shrugged.
"Are you going?"
"That all depends." Peggy raised an eyebrow. "Wanna join?"
"Me? I'm not exactly a Schuyler sister."
"Angie's bringing a school friend (who I've met apparently) and Theo's driving them over. I don't even have to bring you anywhere, you live here too." Piggy winked. "Plus, Liza's bring a 'friend' too."
"How come you think Eliza's bringing a significant other and not Angelica?" I asked.
"Information has been omitted, but I've pieced enough together."
I looked at her blankly.
"Don't look at me like that." She huffed. "Let's go see Herc and Laf!"
We'd adopted Hercules Mulligan into our little clan almost immediately, he was fun. Also, Laf had practically forced us to take his boyfriend in, not that we minded. Peggy dragged me out of her dorm waving goodbye to her roommate, Maria. Maria had been working on a paper, so she looked up and waved, face still slightly confused. Peggy laughed at her friend's facial expression, then closed the door and hauled me down a flight of stairs to Laf and Herc's dorm. Peggy knocked on the door loudly, and Lafayette came to open it.
"Peggy!" He hugged her.
"Wow, now I know what you think about me." I joked.
He turned to me and faked a disgusted glare then pulled us into his dorm, where Herc was making coffee. He looked up as he heard us enter, and smiled, setting down his coffee.
"What're you doing here?" He asked.
"Peggy dragged me over." I shrugged. "Ask her."
"Why? Am I not allowed to visit my friends?" Peggy snapped playfully.
"Pegs, we all know you. You don't just visit your friends." Laf commented in his thick French accent. "Johnny boi on the other hand..."
"I'm lonely, you can't blame me." I pouted.
"Don't you have a roommate?"
"Eh, he doesn't talk to me."
"Wow." Laf stared at me. "So you live here now?"
"Practically." Herc grinned. "Coffee anyone?"
"Yessssssss." Peggy yelled.
"Oui, mon amour." Laf said in french. I knew the 'oui' part. Not the rest.
"Do you have tea?" I asked, the only person in our friend group who didn't like coffee.
"Of course." Laf grabbed a box that had 'turtle's tea' written on the top and a few turtles drawn on the sides.
"Seriously?" I looked at the box.
"You're the only one who drinks tea." Herc smiled.
"Liza drank tea." Peggy commented.
"Who?" Herc asked, confused.
"Elizabeth Schuyler, you've never met her." Peggy explained.
"Schuyler?"
"My sister."
"Where is she?"
"Washington, at university."
"Oh, ok."
"Angie's up in New York." Peggy mused, then went quiet. "You guys should all come!"
"What?" Laf asked. "Where?"
"My sisters arranged to meet up over Christmas break." Peggy explained.
"Ok... I don't pense que I'm a Schuyler sister though." Laf frowned.
"That was my reaction!" I exclaimed.
"Ok, but Angie's bringing a friend and her roommate, and Liza's bringing a 'friend'." Peggy explained, putting 'friend' in quotation marks.
"Ok, but you call Maria your friend, don't give Eliza a hard time." I winked.
Herc laughed, handing me my tea. Peggy blushed, then tried to cover it with a scowl. Laf noticed that and poked Pegs, laughing. She glared at us and sat down on the couch as if it was hers, propping her feet up on a chair.
"You're all jerks." She mumbled and I laughed, sitting next to her.
I sipped my tea and we sat In silence for a bit. It wasn't awkward, but not comfortable either. I'm pretty sure everyone was thinking of something to say, formulating sentences that could possibly spark conversation. I was just enjoying my tea, so I decided I was going to comment that everyone should drink tea if the silence dragged on for too long. The silence dragged on for too long. Or at least, what I considered too long. I kinda rely on human interaction, so not much time needed to pass for me to think it had been to long.
"I don't know why none of you drink tea" I commented, sipping my drink.
"There's a reason that box has 'turtle's tea' on it." Herc joked.
"Where are the Schuylers meeting up?" Laf asked.
Peggy shrugged. "Theo didn't mention it."
"Who's Theo?" Herc and Laf asked simultaneously.
"Angie's roommate, she's friendly." Peggy smiled.
We all nodded. If it weren't for us being extreme Meggy supporters, we could have teased her on that, but I think our silence made it even worse for her. Peggy blushed and looked away, causing Herc to laugh.
"Well, you have until Christmas to trouve a location." Laf stated.
"How about your place?" I offered. "It's by the beach, far enough from school, and aesthetic."
"Why thank you." Peggy batted her eyelashes. "I pride myself in my choice of color for that house."
"I think there are enough rooms." I pulled out every detail from the house that I could muster.
"Yep. Laf and Herc share one, Angie and her roommate share one, Liza and whoever she's bringing share one... " Peggy counted on her fingers. "And Angie's mystery friend can have the attic and John sleeps on couch."
"Wow damn, you don't even get the attic John." Lafayette joked.
"We all know that Peggy loves me so much." I shrugged.
"Never realized your house was so big Pegs." Herc raised an eyebrow.
"I don't think you've ever been." I mused.
"No, I don't think you have." Peggy looked him in the eyes. "It's nice over the winter."
"Just because you use winter as an excuse to stay inside." I teased.
"It's a good excuse." She huffed.
"It doesn't get cold enough to validate that excuse in South Carolina, Peggy." Laf retorted.
"Still, it's winter." She pouted.
"Honestly, I agree with Pegs. Winter should be spent inside" I commented.
"When's your first class John?" Laf asked suddenly.
"It's Sunday Laf." I squinted my eyes at him, then Herc. "But we can leave if you want."
Peggy laughed and got up as Lafayette struggled to find an adequate response. We grabbed our coats and left a stuttering Laf and a laughing Herc behind. I couldn't wait until Christmas break, because it was really fun to get all the Schuylers together. Then I remembered I had another person I considered a friend.
