Spill the Tea with Minimal Swearing
(John P.O.V)
I heard music I'd grown to recognize as Micheal in the Bathroom and opened my eyes groggily. Alex was awake, typing on his laptop, looking very concentrated. I rolled over slightly.
"Alex? Why're you awake?" I mumbled, wanting to go back to sleep with my boyfriend.
"Dunno, I drank some coffee and I had an essay." He said and I heard the laptop close and the music paused.
"Go to sleep." I mumbled again.
"Why?"
"Because it's 1AM and you have morning classes."
"That doesn't matter, I'm fine." I could hear the yawn in his voice, even though I couldn't see him.
"No, you're falling asleep. Now go to sleep, please."
"Fine."
I felt him crawl under the blanket, so I rolled over, hugging him tiredly. Then I heard a phone ring, and it certainly wasn't mine.
"Why?" I heard Alex mutter, before picking up the phone and talking into the speaker. "Alexander Hamilton here, who're you and why're you calling me at 1:37 in the morning?"
I couldn't hear the words clearly, but whoever it was sounded pretty serious.
"Yeah, he's my cousin, why?" What was going on?
I still couldn't hear what the person on the other end was saying and it was annoying.
"Holy shit." Never a good thing to hear. I sat up and looked at Alex worriedly. "Is he ok? Where is he?"
I'm getting concerned.
"Yes please, thank you so much for telling me."
Alex hung up and he laid down beside me again, sighing and falling asleep with my arms around him. I was confused and worried but I decided I'd ask in the morning.

I woke up and blinked sleep out of my eyes, noticing Alex wasn't there. I checked the clock and it was 11. He had class. I sat up tiredly and headed into the living room, turning on literally and movie before grabbing cereal and settling down on the couch. I have evening classes today, so I have a whole day to do anything I want. The movie was Lady and the Tramp, which I'd convinced Alex to watch yesterday.
He likes musicals, I like old animated Disney movies.
I'll show him Aladdin when he gets back. They made a musical out of that I think. (Yes they did, and I went to see it and it was amazing)
I finished my cereal and was fully invested in Lady and the Tramp, so my phone going off was an extremely unpleasant interruption.
I checked the caller ID and it was Alex, so I picked up.
"Hey baby, all good?"
Yeah. I might come home a little late today, I need to go somewhere...
"Ok, see you soon?"
Yeah, I'll try my best to be home as soon as I can but... never mind. See you soon, love you.
"Love you too."
I hung up and turned back to Lady and the Tramp, confused and worried again. Is there a name for this feeling? There probably is, but I'm not planning on looking into it.
I sighed and frowned as the movie ended. I picked up my phone again, going to Theo's contact and calling her.
"Hey Theo!"
Hey John, what's up?
"How's your job search going?"
It's going great! I got hired! Work starts next week!
"That's amazing! Where are you working?"
I'm a therapist for teenagers and that genre of kids.
"Awesome!" I was so happy for my friend, she's wanted to be some type of therapist, and she loved kids. Perfect job for her.
Why'd you call? I'm sure it's not about my job as a therapist.
"Not really, but that's great news."
Ok well, why'd you actually call?
"Alex got a call last night and he sounds really stressed."
Ok stay right there I'm coming over.
"I don't need therapy Theo."
I know, but I want you to spill the tea while I'm present.
"The teenagers are gonna love you."
I know. Bye. No Thea don't eat that!
I laughed as she scolded her kid and hung up. I waited for Theo to show up, which she promptly did, carrying Thea in a sling.
I'd given her a second set of keys, and she liked walking in whenever. Only when she was invited though, which was good.
"Spill the tea!" She practically screeched as she sat down on the couch, moving her kid onto her lap.
"What the hell Theo." I muttered, smiling.
Theo gasped over dramatically and put her hands to her kid's ears, who looked up at her mom, clearly confused.
"Spill the tea with minimal swearing, we don't want her saying those things when she goes to kindergarten."
"Theo, your kid is one year old. She's not going to kindergarten any time soon."
"Ok shut up and tell me about Alex."
"I woke up last night at 1AM to the sound of BMC and typing, which is pretty normal by now. I convinced him to go to sleep, because he seemed really tired, and then his phone rang and by the end of the conversation he sounded really worried, and didn't even notice he said 'holy shit' which would usually provoke some form of Heathers related response. Anyways so he called me a few minutes ago and said he'd be coming back late."
Theo looked deep in thought. "Holy shit."
"Holy shit."
"Holy shit!"
"Holy shit!"
"Why when you see boys fight does it seem so wrong yet feel so right?" Alex sat down in between us and sang, smiling. "I shouldn't watch this crap, that's not who I am but with this kid? Damn."
"Alex!" I hugged him. "Is everything ok?"
"Of course." He hugged me back, but felt both stiffer and weaker then usual.
"I'll leave now, you two need to talk." Theo got up and her baby whined, so she shushed her, opening the front door and locking it behind her.
I turned to Alex and he collapsed onto me, tears starting to flow from his brown eyes.
"I though he was getting better!" He chocked out between sobs.
"Shhh, it's ok." I held him tightly. "What happened?"
"Peter h-he..."
"Slow down, slow down. Who's Peter?"
"My cousin. He tried to commit suicide a while back a-and did it again l-last night."
I didn't have anything to say, so I just hugged him and rubbed his back soothingly. At some point, he calmed down and took a deep, shaky breath.
"Ok, what now?" He asked, a small smile on his lips.
"I have class in a few hours, how about a movie?"
"Which one?"
"Aladdin. The animated one."
"Yes." Was all he said, but it was enough.
I turned on the movie and made popcorn. We watched happily, and Alex hogged the popcorn, which I let him do.
