Quite the Conclusion
(Trigger warning: homophobia and bad parenting)
(John P.O.V)
I lead Alex to my dad's house and shushed him, knocking at the door hesitantly. My brother opened it and stared at me, then Alexander.
"Who're you?" Henry asked Hamilton.
"At this point, I'm doubting what I should say." He muttered and shook his head then raised his voice. "Alexander Hamilton, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"You're that author John likes?" Henry questioned, and I felt my cheeks go red.
"I assume so." He shrugged.
"Why should I let you in?" Henry asked.
"Because your brother told you to." I instructed him. "Henry, please."
He sighed and walked away, and I dragged Alexander in, motioning for him to be silent as I led him upstairs and closed the door behind us. He sat down on my desk chair and I sat on my bed. He just sat there for a while, staring blankly at a wall, tears occasionally running down his cheeks. I wanted to hug him, but didn't want to make things awkward and he seemed very peaceful in some odd way. I watched at Hamilton for a little bit longer until I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.
Peggay: John? Are u with Alex? Where are u?
Turtle Boi: Yeah I found him and brought him to my dads place
Peggay: Is he ok?
Turtle Boi: He's staring at a wall and crying softly
Peggay: So that's a yes?
Turtle Boi: More or less
Peggay: Come back soon please everybody's worrying
Turtle Boi: I'll come back whenever Alexander seems fine
Peggay: Ok James said he's sorry
Turtle Boi: Not sure that's gonna help but the thought was nice
Peggay: Yeah I know
Peggay: Please come back soon
Turtle Boi: Ok bye
Peggay: C u
I put my phone away until it buzzed again. Did Peggy have more to say? I checked my phone.
Baguettes: John ça va?
Turtle Boi: Yeah Alexander's here
Baguettes: ok that's bien
Turtle Boi: he seems more stable now but I don't think that he's properly over it
Baguettes: well retourne quand il a l'air plus stable
Turtle Boi: translation?
Baguettes: get your ass back here when he seems fine
Turtle Boi: ok will do
I put down my phone and decided to fuck it all. I went over to Hamilton and hugged him, and he wrapped his arms around me, tears running onto my shirt. He clutched me tightly, as if worried I'd vanish, and I just sat there and waited for him to calm down slightly. He pulled back and his eyes were sad but he had a slight smile on his lips. Then I figured out what to do.
"Stay here please." I told him and he nodded, not that I expected him to go anywhere.
I snuck down the stairs to my turtle tank, where my three turtles were crawling around. I looked at Lin, Baguette and Shelley, then pulled out my phone.
TurtlesandFlowers: Hey
LittleLion: It's been a while.
TurtlesandFlowers: Yeah sorry my life's been pretty crazy
LittleLion: I know.
TurtlesandFlowers: What?
LittleLion: Honestly, put two and two together Laurens.
TurtlesandFlowers: I'm still confused Alex
LittleLion: There you go; Alex.
TurtlesandFlowers: What?
LittleLion: Do I need to spell it out for you? We've met, and I consider you a friend, I'm also currently sitting up in your room waiting for you to show up.
TurtlesandFlowers: what?
TurtlesandFlowers: oh wait shit, are you Alexander?
LittleLion: Bingo
TurtlesandFlowers: Well hello Alexander
LittleLion: Can you come back now? My anxiety's kicking in.
TurtlesandFlowers: Oh yeah sorry
I grabbed my turtles and put my phone in my pocket, hurrying upstairs and pushing my door open. Alexander was still on my chair and he was holding his phone limply as he looked at the door. I set the turtles down on my bed and he shuffled over, reaching out his hand so the little turtles could go to him if they wanted. Lin rushed over to Alexander, who picked up the little turtle and rubbed his shell fondly. I laughed but then put my hand in my mouth to silence the noise. Hamilton looked at me confusedly and let the turtle crawl around his lap.
"That's Lin. Named after Miranda." I informed him and he chuckled softly, petting the reptile.
"I'd be upset if he didn't like me." Alexander muttered, he seemed fascinating by the turtle. "I'd honestly be disappointed in myself."
He fell silent and shook his head, closing his eyes for a bit before opening them again. He turned his head around and stared at the door suddenly. I watched the doorknob twist and felt my heart race. But when the door opened, it was my four year old sister Mary.
"John?" Then she looked at Alex. "Who, who are you?"
He looked up and her and wiped his cheeks hurriedly, a fake smile appearing on his face. Mary closed the door behind her and waddled over to the bed and looked at Hamilton, then Lin.
"I'm Alexander, what's your name?" He smiled down at her, but I could tell he was still not fully ok.
"I'm Mary!" She said proudly. "That's my brother, John."
"Is he now?" Alexander raised an eyebrow at me. "Why hello John."
"Are you John's boyfriend?" Mary asked him and I blushed brightly, noticing Hamilton redden too, but less then me.
"Uhh... no, I'm not." He said after a pause.
"Oh, ok. Cause John is lonely and needs a boyfriend." Mary told him and I looked away, burying my face in my hands.
"Ok Mary, how about you go play with Ja- Martha?" I cut myself off, not really wanting to mention my brother James, just because of Alexander's brother James.
Mary nodded and walked out, smiling at Hamilton with a smirk-like expression. I got up and pushed her out, closing the door.
"John needs a boyfriend does he now?" Alexander smirked and I felt myself furiously blush.
"John needs friends to start with." I informed him. "Then John can think about a significant other."
"John has friends." He pointed out. "Peggy, Angie, Maria, Hercules, Lafayette, Eliza, maybe even Alexander?"
"Yeah, fair enough." I sat down next to him as the turtles roamed around the bed.
"Alexander on the other hand," he continued. "Alexander has friends, not many, but enough. He's trying to find a relationship but no one likes him enough, or at least, not for the right reasons." He sighed and stroked Lin's shell.
I watched him play with the turtle and his shoulders slumped. His glasses were slipping off his nose, so he pushed them up his nose and ran a hand through his untied hair. He turned to me and smiled sadly. I wanted to hug him again, I wanted to kiss him and tell him I loved him, but instead I just smiled and handed him another turtle.
"Hey John are you ok?" Hamilton asked me as I froze, glancing at the door nervously.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I just—" I replied cutting myself off, hearing footsteps coming up the stairs.
Someone knocked on the door and both boys widened their eyes. The door opened and I saw my dad standing there, he seemed sober, but that didn't mean that he was going to be an ok human being. My dad stared at Hamilton blankly and squinted his eyes.
"Who's this, John?" He asked me and my breath caught a little.
"Alexander Hamilton, sir." Alexander explained, voice steady. "Are you John's father?"
"Yes..." My dad stared at Hamilton suspiciously. "Why have I heard your name before."
"I'm... an author, sir." I knew he didn't like introducing himself like that, but it seemed to calm my father down.
"Hmmm... are you rich?" I internally sighed as my dad asked that question.
"More or less, I've been using the money to get through college." He shrugged.
"What's your degree?"
"Law, sir." He informed my father.
"Hmm... ok, do you have anywhere to stay?"
"No, sir. I just got here from New York and the friend I'm supposed to stay with hasn't arrived yet." Alexander lied expertly.
"Well I guess you're staying here tonight?" He asked.
"That would be nice." Hamilton cocked his head slightly.
"Fine, you can go downstairs, Martha made food, I need to talk to my son." I shuddered, preparing myself for what was to come.
"Ok, sir." He nodded and left, setting Lin down on the bed and getting up, casting a glance at me.
I saw my father close the door and turn to me. I put my turtles safely under the blanket, so that they wouldn't get hurt if things were to go badly. He stepped over to me and frowned.
"Is that your boyfriend?"
"N-no! Hamilton is a friend!"
"Why would I believe you, little fag?" He sneered.
I had nothing to say, I just sat there, waiting for something to happen. But he didn't do anything, just loomed over me ominously, and I assumed I was going to get hurt once Alexander left. I grabbed my turtles and nodded to him, and I felt his gaze on me as I brought the reptiles downstairs. I got to the first floor and saw Alexander talking to Martha about something, and he seemed like he was fully invested in the debate. I set the turtles down and walked over to Alexander, who saw me coming, smiled and said hi, then turned back to Martha who winked at me before going back to her conversation with Hamilton.
Here's my final conclusion; I am in love with Alexander Hamilton.
