Finally

a / n: Idk, it's just a pretty tree I saw and took a picture of. And then proceeded to send to my friend with lots of other trees and make a DEH reference, but back to the matter at hand;

Imagine this tree at night with fairy lights, and lots of them in a clearing. I hope that looks pretty in your mind, cause it does in mine.

Ok, things have gone back to normal, Alex has gotten over Peter's death and is back to acting like himself, instead of a hollow Alex-shell.

I'd arranged with Theo and we'd set up a romantic spot. Ok I'm nervous, but that's normal, right?

But what if he says no? What then? What do I do if he says no?! I gripped the bike handles as we pedaled to the park me and Theo's found.

"John, where are we going?" Alex laughed as I led him off the trail and into the wilder areas of the park.

"You'll see." I smiled, pulling him forewords gently.

We stepped out into the clearing I'd set up with Theo's help and Alex's jaw dropped.

(Alex P.O.V)

What'd going on? John tells me to come with him whilst I'm studying, and leads me to the park. Why's the park so special?

I felt his hand around mine as he lead me off the cobbled path.

"John, where are we going?" I asked, laughing for no apparent reason.

"You'll see."

Well he's no h—

I stared around in awe. We were standing in a clearing, trees on every side, and fairy lights hung in their branches. I believe fairy lights make any setting better, so having them in the middle of an already pretty spot?

It was amazing.

There was a picnic blanket on the grass and John set down a basket I'd only just noticed him carrying. John day down and I did too, looking around at the gorgeous light the fairy lights produced.

"Alex, eat." John beckoned for my attention and I looked at him then the food. There was a canteen of coffee, because, as we've established, that is all I drink. John handed me a sandwich and I took a bite of it.
It was good for a sandwich.

Top five sandwiches of my lifetime.

My boyfriend and I sat in comfortable silence, eating sandwiches and drinking our respective beverages.

John drinks tea when I drink coffee, it's weird.

Don't get me wrong, I love tea, but coffee will always be better. I guess people simply have their preferences.

We got up after finishing the food, staying silent so as not to disturb the calm that had settled over the clearing.

I heard crickets chirping in the grass as night fell over the city, and the birds who were awake rustled in the branches as they sang their last notes for the day. People could be heard outside the park yelling and honking car horns, but the clearing was surrounded by thick trees, and they muffled the sound so it seemed distant, like we were underwater but not running out of air, or if this clearing was separated from the rest of the world.

I caught the glimmer of stars above, sparking and glinting as they fought the streetlights luminescence for a place in the sky. The moon was barely a sliver, but still shone clearly, and a few pale clouds crept across the midnight blue sky, like velvet curtains on a stage.

It was truly a picturesque scene.

"Alex?" I turned around at the sound of my boyfriend's voice, somehow him speaking didn't break the spell the environment had cast.

He was down on one knee, a look of anxiousness and anticipation painted on his features. Wait...

"Alexander Hamilton," John pulled out a ring from his pocket, smiling sweetly but nervously. "Will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"

I gaped at him, rethinking those words over and over, trying to find the thing that meant this was all a joke. But I couldn't.

"I—" I grinned and pulled him into a kiss. "Yes!"

I felt him slide something onto my finger, and looked down to see a ring.

A ring.

Best day of my life.

I leaned back in and kissed him again, fluttering my eyes shut and putting my arms around his neck.

The crickets' song slowed and softened, as if they were aware of what was happening. It was a magical moment, and I wanted to pause my life and then frame this.

But I can't frame a moment, or pause the flow of time, so I decided to enjoy the enchanting instant while it happened.

a / n: sorry this chapter was shorter then usual, but I'm proud of it so it's staying like this. That's all I had to say.

See y'all later.
Sincerely, me.
