Birds Did Look Drunk Though

(Alex P.O.V)

Honestly today was great, I can't remember some of it but that might just be the fault of the lazy author.

(You break my fourth wall and insult me? I'm offended Alex, I'm putting an end to this fourth wall shattering)

Anyways, I was sitting outside with John and James, Angie and Theo had to get Thea to bed and everyone else had wanted to go with them. James spoke up at some point.

"Hey Alex?"

"Mhm?"

"Can I ask you something?"

"Uhhh sure... depends." I was kinda worried about what he'd ask.

"What happened to Peter? Last time I asked you got looked really uncomfortable."

"..." I opened my mouth to speak, but couldn't. I grabbed James's wrist tightly and lead him down the path a little bit, nodding to John, who looked pretty understanding, which was good.

"Alex?" James seemed worried at this point, and I would too if I was him.

"Peter he tried to..." I looked away. "He tried to commit suicide."

"Wait what?" James looked s h o o k.

"Yeah, he got pretty close too."

"Oh god, did he tell you why?"

"N-no. He went to therapy to try and get better but he still doesn't seem himself."

"Yikes." James breathed, pulling me into a hug.

"Yeah." I hugged my brother back. "I agree."

"Well, let's just head back shall we?" James offered.

"Home?"

"No, to the bench where John is waiting and probably worried."

"Oh yeah, that's a fair point." I turned around only to hear someone behind me.

"Mr. Hamilton?" I turned around and saw a little girl with a shirt with a quote from my book. She's probably an ok human being, I'd learnt that fans could be nice. Martha, Martha (John's sister) and a boy I'd met the other day we're all proof.

"Which one?" James asked.

"There are two of us." I smiled at him.

"There could actually be three. John could take your name..." James trailed off.

"Not the time James." I muttered, blushing, then turned back to the girl. "Hi, I'm Alexander, this is James, which one of us do you want to speak to?"

The girl pointed at me shyly and I smiled.

"Well hi then, what is it you wanted to talk about?" I smiled and did my best not to scare the crap out of the kid.

"I really like your book." She seemed so awkward but sweet, which is good, little kids can be annoying but some of them are ok.

"I'm glad you do, it was fun to write."

"Can you... sign this?" She pulled a paper out of her pocket and I smiled, pulling out a pen and signing her paper.

"There ya go."

"Thank you so much!" She squealed and ran off, shouting what seemed to be 'Dolley! You'll never believe who I met!'

"Wow, does that happen often?" James asked, ask we walked back to John.

"Kinda." I shrugged and hugged my boyfriend once we got up to him. "Hey babe."

John looked up and pecked me on the lips, smiling.

"Aww, you're cute." James smiled.

"Shut up James." I laughed.

"Can't do that, sorry."

"So, all good?" John asked, worry glittering a little in his eyes.

"Yep, just had to clear some things up." I smiled, glad I'd told James about Peter and the whole suicide thing.

"You're boyfriend is famous." James chuckled. "This little girl came up to us and asked for his autograph. It was hilarious and cute."

"Yeah well the man's a genius when it comes to writing." John smiled, hugging me.

"I know, aren't I amazing?" I did a hair toss jokingly, pretty sure my writing was ok, but not that good.

"Honestly though, if history interested me, I'd love your book." James shrugged, smiling teasingly.

"I'm working on something non-historical right now." I shrugged sheepishly.

"Spill the tea!" James grinned.

"Nope." I patted his head, despite me being the shortest person present. "You'll see."

"Screw you Alex." John frowned.

"Hey I uhh, have to now I'll leave you two to your secret boyfriend talk or whatever." James stood up, tugging at his coat.

I laughed getting up after my brother.

"No, I'm going now too, Angie hates it if I go back late, she's worried her kid'll wake up." I stretched and headed off, kissing John quickly before leaving.

Oh yeah, I was staying with Angie and Theo in their appartement over the summer because why not, right? They didn't mind, Angie was her grumpy self, that's not my fault. She has been less angry since Theo and Thea walked into her life. Little did Theo know, Angie was going to propose later this summer, I was called at 2AM (which is honestly normal at this point) and informed of that.

I knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer, which Theo promptly did with a big smile.

"Jeez, why're you so happy?" You're on trial for murder. I added the last part to myself.

"Thea started babbling."

"And this is good... how?"

"She's practically talking!" Theo looked exhilarated.

"I know nothing about kids, but that sound cute I guess."

"Heck yeah it's cute!" Angelica called from the living room.

"She's really proud of her kid." I muttered and tugged off my shoes. "Well I'm going to not sleep, see you tomorrow."

"Or at four when you have something to say to one of us about birds." Angie grumbled, stepping into the entrance.

"Ok but those birds looked drunk." I reasoned. "I'm just disappointed they left before you could see."

"Yeah yeah, well off you go." Theodosia waved me off kindly and I walked to the room I was staying, letting myself fall onto the bed, exhausted.

But instead of sleep I got myself coffee and started typing away at my computer, fifteen chapters into my book. So far I was fairly proud of it, it was consistent and pretty, dare I say, well-written.

Goodnight readers, I'm tired.
